Nurse Jackie is in no need of life support.
The Edie Falco-led drama was renewed for a sixth salon today by Showtime, a little more than a week before it airs its Season 5 finale on June 16.
"Nurse Jackie is an essential part of the Showtime brand, and we are thrilled with the series’ growth in its fifth season,” said President of Entertainment David Nevins. “Under the new leadership of Clyde Phillips, and with an amazing cast led by Edie Falco, this show is as sharp and compelling and entertaining as ever. I’m excited to get to see the next chapter in Jackie’s life.”
The current season of the series averages 3.1 million weekly viewers across all platforms, which is a 10 percent increase over last year at this time.
The only possibly sad side effect of this news: whether it will impact Merritt Wever's status on New Girl. We love her.
