Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones to Exit Parks and Recreation

at .

This is, LITCHerally, the worst news we've heard all day:

NBC sources tell BuzzFeed that Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones will both depart Parks and Recreation about halfway through Season 6. The actors will reportedly exit on the 13th episode, which is likely to air during February Sweeps.

Chris and Ann

It's unclear at the moment what's prompting these exits, though budgetary reasons are likely to blame. When we last left Ann and Chris, they were trying to have a baby, making it logical that the characters may succeed in their goal and then choose to raise the tyke elsewhere.

Jones has portrayed Ann Perkins (ANN PERKINS!!!) since the Parks and Recreation premiere in 2009, while Lowe came on board as Chris Traeger toward the end of Season 2. We can only assume their departure is Jerry's fault.

In positive Parks and Recreation casting news, Heidi Klum, Henry Winkler and Kristen Bell will all stop by Pawnee this fall.

UPDATE: Says Michael Schur in a statement:

"The news about Rob and Rashida is true -- they will be leaving the show after the 13th episode of the upcoming season six. We've been working on their storyline (on and off) for four seasons now, and heading into this year, with the two of them contemplating parenthood, it felt like a natural time to move them into the next phase."

Leslie: I know you're not gay.
Tom: No, I'm not.
Leslie: But you're effeminate.
Tom: What?
Leslie: Well, you're wearing a peach shirt with a coiled snake on it.
Tom: That's because it was featured in Details magazine, and it's awesome.

Look, Tammy and I don't work. We are oil and water. Or oil and TNT and C4 and a detonator and a butane torch.
