The Mentalist Season 6: What We Hope to See

at . Comments

September 29th feels like it's a long way off. Mostly because it is. And as much as we enjoy summer, the cool breezes of autumn and our favorite shows returning with new episodes weigh heavy on our minds.

So since we have to wait another 80-plus days for the season premiere of The Mentalist, we decided to make a list.

Read on, TV Fanatics, and see if our hopes and dreams for The Mentalist Season 6 match yours. Vote for what you'd most like to see happen come fall and don't forget to share your thoughts and add anything we've missed in the comments below.

Jane's Wild West

Our Mentalist Season 6 Wish List:

The Big Reveal. Yes, we finally want to know Red John's true identity. It's been five seasons. It's about time we know.

A Love Interest for Cho. One that doesn't involve a hooker, a junkie, or any other type of criminal. Someone worthy of the character we've grown to love.

More Rigsby and Van Pelt. It took a long time for these two to find their way back to one another. We're hoping to see this couple stay happy for a while.

Jisbon. That's the shipper name for Jane and Lisbon for those not in the know. A Jane / Lisbon pairing has been hinted at and teased for five seasons. It's included an I love you from Patrick that he later side stepped and many doe eyed looks for Teresa. It's about time these two had an honest conversation about how they feel for one another.

A Kiss. For those of us who don't care about the talking and want a little more action, a real kiss between this dynamic duo would make us cheer.

Casual Time. Wouldn't it be great to see the entire team spend a little more time outside the CBI?

Real Danger for Our Core Team. Show creator Bruno Heller promised that Red John will be targeting closer to home this season. We're hoping that means RJ will go after someone on Jane's immediate team. Not that we want to see Lisbon, Cho, Rigsby, or Van Pelt die at the hands of the merciless serial killer…but having one of them in serious peril will have us glued to the screen.

NLP supposedly uses verbal tones that bypass the conscious mind and goes straight to the subconscious mind where suggestions can be planted. When Jane wanted to get in and see that kick boxer he said these aren't the droids you're looking for then he walked right past the guy. This is a part of that technique. The statement was so stupid it distracted the guy long enough to get past him. That's why Jane almost gets his butt kicked when he gets inside cause it doesn't work in the next guy. But if course Jane gets the guy back later.

True story, a few years ago I went to a church with a friend. This minister asked people to come to the front it they wanted a blessing. So of course like everyone else I wanted a blessing too. We were all standing in a line and I was somewhere in the middle. The mister started at the top of the line. I watched him put his fingers on people's foreheads and then push them backwards. I listened very intensely to what he was saying and I thought this guy is a big ass phoney. Well right before he got to me we looked each other right in the eyes and he must have picked up on what I was thinking about him. When he got to me, he walked right past me and went on to the next people.

Correction- notion not notification.

@Rationalgal, I believe you have picked up on the philosophical notification of good and evil. I believe that you have been very tuned into this notion the whole time and that you stated it again very clearly tonight. All the things this show is dealing with are very real things. This show deals with a philosophical depth that is very esoteric to the non-understanding by most people. Most people don't run this deep. Nor to they even care about it. After investigating some of things used in the show, I now have a better understanding of what they were doing. What seemed stupid became perfectly clear. This show is very deep on so many levels. But for those who are not so inclined there is comedy, drama, romance and the typical procedural portions. The Emmy people need to pick up a book once in awhile!

I read an article that Simon did when the series first started where he talks about NLP. So I went and looked it up on YouTube and it was crazy to say the least. In real life they were testing groups of people to see if they could get people to throw what they were hypnotized to believe was acid in someone's face. The group that was hypnotized threw the acid. The NLP portion talked about conversational hypnosis and being able to put people under very quickly. It also talked about how to use language to get what you want from people and planting suggestions. There was also the fact that they look for a certain type ofpperson. I even found discussions on wether or not you can get people to kill using these techniques. After investigating some if these techniques, I went back and watched the Mentalist and was shocked to see that Jane has been doing these things in the series. I mean literally the same technique format. It is so subtle that I don't think it'snnoticeable to people.

@Rationalgal, your 9:50 entry is great and heart felt. Just so you know you have, with your analysis fueled my Mentalist flames many a day. That's why I said before, I will enjoy this as much as I can now! I have never blogged about a tv show and probably will never do it again. This was amazing. I absolutely loved sharing my ideas with such insightful people. I loved that this was a very thoughtful group of people. I especially loved that all opinions were welcomed. This has been a very enjoyable experience and I want to thank you all as well. You all have been very interesting and entertaining. I have to give a shout out to Feint for standing his ground and hanging in there with us.

I am soooooo excited!

Hey, can you tell, I love the Mentalist!

@Rationalgal, could be! could be! Anything is possible! We are two short days away from finding it all out! Pinch me, cause it's been a long wait! No matter what happens, it's going to be good! I feel like a little kid! I love the Mentalist, I love the Mentalist, I love the Mentalist, I love the Mentalist...........................

This is SO exciting! Sounds like an unforgettable play-it-over-endlessly series windup. They had better get the DVDs out right after the series finale. I'm scrapping all my speculations about who is who and who did what and why because I think Heller is going to shake up the entire plot. We will have lots to chat about as each episode airs. It will be so sad to have it all finally come to an end, but everything does. I will treasure the DVDs forever! (And probably have to upgrade them to keep up with emerging technology. This chat group has made TM even more enjoyable. Thank you all!
