Prepare for a whole new Vampire Diaries when this CW favorite returns in the fall.

On the red carpet of Comic-Con this weekend, producer Caroline Dries said Season 5 would feature a "fresh start" for many Mystic Falls residents, from Elena starting college to Katherine learning to live as a human to Jeremy learning to simply live... again.

There will be a three-month time jump when The Vampire Diaries Season 5 returns, along with a new group of villains with a relation to Silas.
