Donald Glover Inks Development Deal with FX

by at . Comments

He may be leaving Community, but Donald Glover won't be staying away from the small screen for very long.

According to Deadline sources, the beloved actor has signed a deal with FX to write, produce and star in a new sitcom on that cable network.

It will tentatively be titled "Atlanta" and it will be set again the music backdrop of that Georgia city.

Glover will appear in only five of the 13 episodes on tap for Community Season 5.

His rap career - as Childish Gambino - has taken off over the past year and insiders say he was attracted to the FX offer because the network has promised to accommodate his touring schedule.

I would imagine that Dan Harmon would have done what he could to accommodate his touring schedule too. No one knows if Donald asked him that or not. Donald may have just wanted out of Community and had this new show in his mind the whole time and new it would come to life and wanted to be free for it. I will miss him on Community!
