Has American Idol found its next Simon Cowell?

According to E! News sources, Dr. Luke (real name: Lukasz Gottwald) will join Keith Urban and Jennifer Lopez on the American Idol judging table in 2014.

Producers reportedly went with the relative no-name after initially going after Kanye West, Diddy and will.i.am.

Like Cowell when Idol first hit the air, Luke isn't well known to American audiences.

But the producer/songwriter is responsible for such hits as Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone," Kesha's "Tik Tok" and Katy Perry's "California Gurls." He's a heavy weight in the industry.

UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter disputes this claim and says Luke will not serve as a judge.
