Lifetime has closed down its longest-running base.

The network announced today that it has pulled the plug on Army Wives, following a seventh season that featured many new cast members.

A two-hour retrospective will air some time in early 2014.

Said Lifetime Executive Vice President and General Manager Rob Sharenow in a statement:

“There is no denying how special Army Wives has been to both Lifetime and the television landscape. By taking on a very relevant and timely issue, it has brilliantly captured the challenges our military families endure and the bravery they and their loved ones display while serving our country…. We also want to thank Army Wives’ passionate legion of fans and everyone involved with the series: ABC Studios, Mark Gordon and Jeff Melvoin, Tanya Biank, every single cast member, as well as the crew and community of Charleston, South Carolina.”

Throughout its run, Army Wives received numerous accolades: two Gracie Awards from the Alliance for Women in Media; a Sentinel for Health Award from the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism’s Norman Lear Center; an NAACP Image Award; and a NAMIC Award.

I am so sad to this show leave. I actually enjoyed season 7 better than I did season 6 because we were getting to know the new people. I always thought it was missing its heart since Claudia Joy's character has been gone but I was getting to enjoy the new wives and their friendships.

o no I just cant believe it, I have been watching and watching to see when Amy Wives was coming back on and I see this..why just why? I love this show I have watched it since day one. Its always the best ones you all cancel, what is wrong with you? to all the cast and writters, I love u and u will be missed in my home, I wish u all the best.

It is so sad that Lifetime cancelled Army Wives it should have given people a little more time to adjust to the cast changes, I have watched it since day 1 and it was difficult to see some of the older cast members to leave or even be in the sidelines like Roxy and Trevor they were my favs. But I am a true fan and I soon got involved in the other cast members as they melted in with the others and it all started to fit. It was such a relatable show they were people you could identify with, I am so sad. Its really sad that you renew this stupid programs on others channels as well about former playboy bunnies who act like whores while married with children, and celebrities who have so much money and act like selfish pigs, and then there are the families that reproduce like rabbits just to have a reality show, and cant forget about the media whore families that suck up every second of air time, and magazine cover available to all mankind. There is so much garbage on TV and then when you have a wholesome show where people care about each other and it gets cancelled. SAD Lifetime and all of you fans who quit watching because what there wasn't enough sex, violence, greed, or revenge in it. Well you all dropped the ball. Im gonna miss you ARMY WIVES.

This is great take one the best shows off for whatever reason u think u have to it is like everything else you people who think they are number one and ca do whatever . Does not care about what the peopl want

I hate that the show is not going to last. I really hate when some of my favorite shows like "Deception", "Cleveland Show", "Cold Case", and "America's Most Wanted" went off as well.

Just watched all 7 Seasons on Netflix. Have to say the biggest mistake was letting Kim Delaney go!!! I was never a fan of hers but will have to say after watching this series she was the anchor of Army Wives. She truly is a good actress and I the show was not the same after she was gone. There was a great chemistry with her and Brian McNamara! The seventh season was a let down.

I hate it when people say "I stopped watching when the original cast was gone"! This Show called Army Wives was not about specific people but for all military spouces and military personnel. Life in the military is not all together till the end of time! People come and people go, people get KIA, MIA and so on and so forth. Army wives had a lot more to offer, but unfortunately some genius out there though otherwise. Obviously someone who's only connection to military is through a TV set.

I am so upset lifetime took off my fav show army wives. It was the best show about the military. Hopefully we will see this wonderful cast on someother network.

You've got to be kidding. Why are networks cancelling good shows? I love Army Wives. First, they cancel my 2 favorite soaps-The Guiding Light & As The World Turns, CSI NY, Desperate Housewives, & now Army Wives. Why do the networks keep on stupid shows like Honey Boo Boo & the one were the guy is married to the sisters. They are nasty shows.
