Copper: Canceled by BBC America

BBC has pulled the plug on Copper after two seasons.

The period drama has been a modest success for the network, but has failed to generate the sort of enormous buzz of Orphan Black, another BBC original series.

Sad BBC America General Manager Perry Simon in a statement:

"Copper has been a fascinating and exciting experience for everyone involved. The opportunity to work with Tom Fontana, Barry Levinson, Will Rokos, Thomas Kelly and the extraordinary cast and crew on this journey is one that we are extremely proud of. Their vision to retell the immigrant experience through the melting pot of New York City was an original and fresh idea that melded well with the essence of BBC America's programming. After 23 episodes, with Lincoln dead and the nation starting to heal, it seems a fitting moment to conclude this American story."

Copper starred Tom Weston-Jones in the lead role.

This is one of my favorites. This show should be advertised more and even if it isn't "popular" you should still air it for all of us who aren't brain-dead. It's time for quality tv and Copper is a quality show.

I hate to hear this one of my favorites, I think maybe it was not advertised enough, very realistic and well acted.

I guess they need to make room on the schedule for more shows like I Love My Big Boobs. Friggin' idiots :(

Please renew this unusual and fascinating show. Such a wonderful insight to our early history. We have looked forward to it every week. Love all the characters in it.

Please, please, please renew this extraordinary show! It's a shame to end it when the characters are finally all beginning to develop. So many potential story lines.

Copper Quotes

Look around you, Corky. Since the riots, my people have been moving out of Five Points. My wife, her brothers were hung by the neck from those two lampposts.

Morehouse: Corcoran cut off my leg and saved my life.
Corcoran: Luck of the Irish.
Morehouse: Don't be so modest, Corky. He saved my life and got himself a detective's badge.
