NCIS Showrunner: Ziva's Exit Will Be "Heart-Wrenching"

at . Comments

In an emotional open letter to fans, NCIS show-runner Gary Glasberg addressed the exit of Cote de Pablo, promising shocks, surprises, goodbyes and plenty of tears on the horizon this fall.

Glasberg stressed that the cast, producers and writers respect de Pablo's decision to leave the show and said they spent all summer working on her character's exit and shaping NCIS Season 11.

While fans may be crushed that the actress is leaving, the show is bringing its A game.

"The amazing resolution you're going to see is pretty damn heart-wrenching and we're incredibly proud of it," executive producer Glasberg wrote. "Prepare yourselves for a moment in television history."

"Images that will end up in the archives. I couldn't be happier with how my NCIS family stepped up and did some of the most emotional work we've ever done."

She'll appear in the first two episodes of Season 11 before her character exits the series. CBS boss Les Moonves said they tried to get her to stay, but that it was entirely her call.

"We offered Cote a lot of money and then we offered her even more money. We really didn't want to lose her. We love her ... We obviously were in discussion with the rest of the cast and the producers [and Cote]."

"Ultimately, she decided she didn't want to do the show."

“It was not an easy decision," de Pablo told Latina. "I feel like I am leaving my family. What I want to say most of all is thank you to the fans and to the people who have been so supportive of me and of the show."

NCIS Season 11 officially begins Tuesday, September 24.

I think they did these to keep the fake fans

Let's give the rest of the cast a chance. Cote dePablo is not the only star in this show. All of the characters should have the same opportunities that Ziva did.

GG and CBS must be worried to release this kind of letter, it looks as if they are begging people not to leave and to keep watching the show, there is no doubt in my mind that it will not be the same after Cote leaves, Cote/Ziva was with the show for 8 years and for some to turn round and say her departure will not affect to the dynamics of the show they are talking rubbish. Cote will be missed and the storylines she could of brought to the show will be missed.

Nice letter I will miss Ziva I am going to keep watching NCIS without her. But maybe McGee will get some more storyline. I just hope she Guest stars from now and then. Really liked Tony and Ziva

Oh, okay "PR Nonsense." What would YOU have said? "We are all lying on the ground having a hissy fit over Cote leaving and know the show will suck now and we might as well quit! WAHHH!!!"

I will miss Ziva too, but I think the show doesn't do justice on McGee's character, he is really a great actor and they should do more on him. I love Tony's character too, and I know he is better looking than McGee, but they should make him a equal to Tony's character.

I cant see watching the show with out her. she is the main reason I watch it. Is there medical reasons why she is leaveing.?
I love you Ziva.

Love Ziva n will miss her a lot. I wish her lots of luck moving on. Love all on the show n will continue to watch. Who knows? Maybe she can come back later on as Tony's love interest or do some special appearances? Hint, hint writers!!!!
I am Staying Tuned!!!

I can not wiat to see what they do this has spark a huge enegry I believe in the writers ad actors after years of writers block

Thank you for the letter expressing your opinions and future for NCIS. Cote dePablo as Ziva David will definitely be missed. The creativity of the writers, cast and technical crew is appreciated. NCIS is #1 due to the leadership of Gary Glasberg, Mark Harmon, the Producer, and the Director. Please let MW direct a few episodes this season.

NCIS Quotes

Tony: One other question, I know you're an expert in English history. And I was just wondering, have you ever heard of Archibald Drummond, the 17th Earl of Trent?
Ducky: The Earl of Trent. No, I can't say I have. Why?
Tony: I was just wondering. Thanks.

McGee: All right. Well you should probably know that Abby and I used to date?
Bishop: Ew. Like, each other?
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: Wait - isn't that a violation of rule 12, never date a....
McGee: It was a long time ago. After we'd broken up, one night I went to her lab. Found a scribbled piece paper; a list. Potential boyfriends had to fulfill certain conditions by a pre-arranged date or else, goodbye.
Bishop: Such as.
McGee: Things started off relatively normal: opening the door for her, flowers, putting the seat down. Then around number 8, it gets uh...
Bishop: What?
McGee: Does she know you have these?
Bishop: Does she know you have these?
McGee: Yeah she wasn't happy when she found out.
Bishop: These are all very specific.
McGee: Yeah.
Bishop: These ideas apply to you?
McGee: No those rules weren't in place when we were together. At least I don't think so.
Bishop: What's with the two month cutoff? Abby's sabotaging herself. I've seen stuff like this before. We have to talk to her.
