TV Ratings Report: The X Factor Plummets
Matt Richenthal at .X did most decidedly not mark the spot on Fox last night, as the Season 3 premiere of Simon Cowell's creation plummeted in the ratings.
According to preliminary numbers, The X Factor garnered a total of 6.2 million viewers last night and recorded a 2.1 rating among 18-49-year olds. Those figures represent a 35 and 38 percent drop, respectively, from last year's opener and were half of what the show debuted to in September 2011.
Elsewhere:
- The MasterChef Season 4 finale inched up among young adults.
- Big Brother dropped a tenth of a point in the same category.
- The Million Second Quiz fell from its premiere.
- America's Got Talent dropped to a season low of 2.1
