American Horror Story: Coven scared up a record number of viewers last night.

The third installment of this unique FX series area 5.54 million viewers, more than double the previous high (3.85 million) for this Ryan Murphy-created scarefest.

The Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates-anchored opener also garnered 3.8 million viewers among the advertiser-friendly demographic of 18-49-year olds, another record for the program.
