Once Upon a Time Review: Never Lose Hope

by at .  Updated at . Comments

When you're surrounded by Lost Boys, it's difficult not to lose hope.

But but if you can hold on to "Good Form" - as the series titled Once Upon a Time Season 3 Episode 5 - maybe it's possible to keep the faith.

A Future for Hook?

Apparently Henry not only has the heart of the truest believer, he also possesses his own magical powers. Much like the sword, one has to wonder just how Henry will choose to use it. Will he eventually follow the path towards the light or into the dark.

I'll admit, the thought of Regina and Henry teaming up sounds like a lot of fun. As a matter of fact, I really love Regina here in Neverland. Not only does she get all the best lines, she's more than willing to do what it takes to get the job done.

I was proud of Emma when she let Regina remove the Lost Boy's heart. When it comes to protecting your kid, you'll do anything.

I was especially happy to hear Emma refer to Henry as our son. It's been quite some time since she acknowledged Regina's role as a parent to Henry.

But I think one of my favorite moments was when Regina had to watch Charming and Snow making out and muttered in this Once Upon a Time quote...

What I wouldn't give for another sleeping curse.

Regina

Speaking of Charming, when will he tell his family he's not allowed to leave Neverland? First he didn't tell them about being infected by the dreamshade and now he's hiding this. It doesn't say a lot about the prince's trust in his family.

Hook, on the other hand, turned out to be a stand up guy, both now and in the past. And can I say that I just love that his first name is Killian. Somehow it makes him even hotter.

The scene where his brother died on Neverland was heartbreaking. I knew what was coming and I still got choked up watching it.

That the betrayal of their king caused Hook to lose his brother and that's what drove him to become a pirate made sense and gave the character an origin of honor to fall back on.

All of those CaptainSwan fans were cheering when Emma finally kissed the Captain as a thank you for saving her father. Although she called it a one-time thing, I'm not entirely sure she meant it and I'm certain Hook wants more. A lot more.

But as Peter Pan said, now we truly get to find out what type of man Hook is. Will he tell Emma that Neal's alive and help her find him, or keep it a secret in order to get what he wants…which we all know will blow up in his face?

I had one question at the end of this episode: Didn't Pan give Hook that flask from which everyone was drinking? Could he have put the magical water in it? Just a thought for a future twist.

With Neal's fate literally up in the air, who is that hanging next to him? And did you miss Rumpelstiltskin in this episode of Once Upon a Time?

im just disappointed by the character development they have made peter pan's character out to be. I guess if you think of peter pan, you think of robin Williams or johnny depp's fidning neverland. what does not make sense is that he wants henry to become a lost boy, but then that means henry wont be a believer anymore, because his family has been the biggest reason for him believing in magic. confused and not liking peter pan at all...

OH - OH - I almost forgot....anyone catch that after the kiss, after Emma told him to hang back for five, the dread pirate Hook responded to his love, "As you wish."

hands down, my favorite episode of the season. one of my favorites out of everything as well

This was probably my favourite episode all season, and probably with most of last season, too. I love Hook, and I love his back story even more. And holy crow, that kiss... I think Hook keeping the secret of Neal's survival is too predictable. I think he'll tell them, or at least tell Charming. I think Hook does have honour, and don't think he wants to have Emma by default; he would rather that she chose him. Besides - do they all know that Hook was the one who handed Baelfire over to Pan in the first place? I can't remember if that's common knowledge, but that seems like a worse secret to me. On another note - I would love to buy a beer for whoever decided that Regina should be the resident smart-ass! I pretty much love every word that comes out of her mouth. and I was with her on the sleeping curse. Last thing - where the heck is Rumple?

I´m a Hook fanatic and I really loved the development and getting to know Killian. Every good Villian needs a good backstory and this was a really good one. Really hope he says Emma the truth. Even though Snow´s optimism and and rightfulness is admireable don´t be that of a bitch about it. One heart more or less it really doesn´t matter. In war love and bitchfight´s everything is acceptable.
The mirror scene was really sweet. Charming got development! I´m shocked it was small but really well executed. He made a step into character growth and let´s see if anyone has the magic to take him back home alive. The Capatain Swan kiss was a great scene I really felt the passion. I´m honestly curious who Emma´s true love is. Who is in the other Box?

I actually love this episode. The kiss for my captain swan heart. The bromance of Captain Charming. How Emma realize that you have to do bad things in order to get Regina and her son back. I think that Hook will do the right thing and tell her about Neal. I am also glad that we got to see Hooks past and more on the deal he made with Pan. I also like how Regina told Henry we love you instead of I love you and I love how Emma refer to Henry as our son.

@ Hookified(dande)

Now that I questioning it, I wonder why Emma and co. just did not follow the lost boy to Peter's hideout.

I thought of that...but I think it's because they don't have an exit strategy? I don't know...

I thought about the flask too, but then doubted my theory, because surely hook would have said something about it not being his? Then I went back to watch that part again, and Pan clearly takes the flask from Hooks waist.

Yes i dearly miss rumple and i loved the fact that emma finally referred to henry as both her's and regina's son because every time she said my son i kept screaming henry is regina's too. You Christine are a woman after my own heart because i also noticed the flask from pan being druck by everyone except regina

I think that Rumple is next to Neal.
