Favorite Ichabod-ism of the week?

Jim: I loved his reference to Abbie's childhood crimes: "How fortuitous. An officer of the law with a criminal past. Imagine the delinquency we could perpetrate if we really put our minds to it."

Hank: My favorite moment this week was Ichabod's conversation with the "NorthStar" support lady, Yolanda... "Surviving death, separated by time, tests the bonds of love. The moment I saw her, I knew, the bravest love is born again with each new day. The kind of love that makes the mundane a marvel. That bewilders with its magnificence etc... It is I who should thank you, kind woman, for unlocking this vehicle from afar." Classic!

Carissa: I'm with Hank on this one. I had to rewind and play the scene with Ichabod chatting with auto assistance several times to get my full enjoyment of it. That man's voice is music to my ears. Play, Ichy, play!

Were you pleased with the way they introduced Jenny's back-story into the current Sleepy Hollow world?

Jim: Absolutely, they needed a replacement for Corbin, someone who has a clue of what is going on, and has been preparing for it. What a great idea to tie Jenny to Corbin as his unknown assistant.

Hank: I just love it when a show surprises me, never would have thought that Sheriff Corbin and Jenny had a relationship. What's more, that Corbin sent Jenny on secret missions to obtain rare objects and that he gave her advice about Abbie as well. I'm definitely down with Jenny now.

Carissa: It was brilliant. Until we learned about Jenny's connection with Sheriff Corbin, Abbie seemed to have a little bit of an entitlement issue going on. Discovering she wasn't the only coveted sister put her on a more even playing field with Jenny and made their relationship far more interesting.

Thoughts on the Hessians and their relation to Moloch?

Jim: First, I loved that they explained (without being obvious) that Hessians were German soldiers loyal to the British. As far as their relationship to Moloch, I doubt they are the only one's tied to him.

Hank: That music teacher dude was as scary as any of the baddies we've seen so far. What they did to Jenny's contact at the bar was pretty gruesome. Loved the flashback to the Boston Tea Party (or as Ichabod called it "The Destruction of the Tea") and the Hessian guard there. The fact the Hessians are everywhere and in league with Moloch is terrifying. Fanatical, misguided mortals always make the nastiest enemies.

Carissa: I'm so glad you two are here, because this question was loaded to give me more information that I missed while I was diligently taking notes. Sometimes my head is so engaged in formulating theories that I miss important things. Hessians were German soldiers loyal to the British. AHA! I do wonder how a group loyal to the British ended up in league with Moloch, and I loved that the Music Man made a point to tell them even he didn't know how many or who made up the current rank and file. Now they know they have to play it very close to the vest. 

Are you wishing for more Katia or is she alright in the smaller doses?

Jim: I really would like to see more of her, maybe even rescue her so that Ichabod has someone else from his time here. But, given that the show is built around the trope of "Heroes never get happy endings", I think she's stuck for a long time.

Hank: Totally agree with Jim, I'd love for Ichabod to rescue Katia but I realize the writers are going to either draw it out or keep the two of them apart. In the meantime, her dream visits will have to do, I guess. I'm ok with smaller doses, unless they bring her into the present.

Carissa: It would be kind of fun to see a doppelganger of her in the present. Really throw Ichabod for a loop. I like the actress a lot and she's stuck in Ichabod's head. I'd like to see more of her, but not necessarily by way of Katia being freed any time soon.

Weekly check-in on Captain Irving. Where do you stand on him?

Jim: I still think he is a good guy. Though like Katia, we aren't seeing a whole lot of him.

Hank: Irving seemed much less suspicious this episode. With each episode, I'm less certain he's a bad guy. Of course, the writers can always be manipulating the audience to feel this way about him. Until we know more about the guy, he might be an ally or possibly a Hessian right?

Carissa: I thought they were trying to tell us that not knowing who was and wasn't a Hessian meant he might be one, and that's when I felt even more certain he wasn't. I always want to push against the grain! It would be more fun for me if everyone else in the department were Hessians and he was at the top, alone, unknowing. He's new to town, isn't he? That could work. Abbie might have to convince him everything is true and bring him over to the good side for his own safety, but he'll have to play bad to get information. That's right. Let me write the script. I'm on my way Hollywood!
