The Simpsons to Pay Tribute to Marcia Wallace

The Simpsons will pay homage to Marcia Wallace on Sunday.

This Emmy Award-winning actress passed away on October 26 due to complications from pneumonia and, in her honor, the animated hit will run a special Edna Krabappel-based episode to kick off next week.

At 7:30 p.m., the series will re-air "Bart the Lover," the 16th episode of Season 3 in which Bart discovers just how lonely his teacher is and sets about making it right.

It won Wallace an Emmy in 1992.

Then, following a new episode of The Simpsons, a special tribute card from producers will accompany the closing credits.

“I was tremendously saddened to learn this morning of the passing of the brilliant and gracious Marcia Wallace,” producer Al Jean said in a statement a couple days ago. “She was beloved by all at The Simpsons and we intend to retire her irreplaceable character.”
