Grey's Anatomy Review: Nothing's Wrong

at .  Updated at . Comments

While last week's Grey's Anatomy Season 10 Episode 9 was intense and kept me on the edge of my seat, "Somebody that I Used to Know" fell more on the lighthearted side of things.

Lots of Attention

Although I'm a huge fan of character-centric episodes, I was glad things were back to normal with drama at the hospital and especially in our favorite doctors' personal lives. Basically, it felt like classic Grey's. A whole lot happened and it all made for yet another memorable Thursday night.

I laughed a ton, as there were quite a few hilarious lines and even started to miss Cristina already as she delivered some of the funniest ones. Be sure to check out the Grey's Anatomy quotes section to rehash some of her awesome quips.

A major OMG moment was when Shane stood up to Meredith for Cristina. I was totally surprised that Cristina didn't have a single word to say. To me, Shane was out of line and Cristina should have done the talking. I found it hard to believe that she didn't open her mouth once after everything that Meredith had said.

In the final scene, it was obvious that Derek was over the besties' drama. As he rolled his eyes, I also found myself tired of both of them using the interns as their lackeys, their lack of communication and how immature they both could be at times.

Tensions Mount

Seriously, Meredith should have just gone to the board when push came to shove.

Also, maybe Cristina should just realize that she cannot "walk on water" every single time. All in all, I get that the gap between these two is as wide open as can be, but it would certainly be a shame not seeing them make up before Cristina makes her exit at the end of the season.

Calzona fans were probably jumping for joy as the two are going to give it another shot. This was after Callie found out that Arizona was with Leah while they were separated and also followed Arizona saying that she's tired of Callie always playing the victim. I used to really love Arizona and I just don't care for her anymore. Callie deserves so much better.

Meanwhile, I am really glad Ben is back whether Bailey likes it or not. Something is definitely up with her and it's a good thing that he confided in Derek. I also thought that McDreamy did the right thing in letting Owen know about Bailey's issue. She shouldn't be operating, and I'm worried about her. Is it really just OCD?

Elsewhere, it's hard to believe that the Mapril wedding is going to happen as there was certainly still some spark with Japril. However, Jackson was convincing when he told Stephanie that he and April were over but it would always be awkward.

Other thoughts:

  • I was disappointed when Cristina kissed Shane. I'm hoping nothing else happens between these two moving forward. News flash to the writers: not every intern ought to be with their mentor.
  • I really thought we were going to get to catch at least one scene of the planned Thanksgiving dinner. Call me crazy, but I was curious to see if Emma and Owen were going to be able to pull off making dinner.
  • Fun fact: Debbie Allen, who plays Catherine Avery, directed this installment.
  • Don't forget to return next week to chime in on our Grey's Anatomy Round Table.

Overall, I thought Grey's Anatomy Season 10 Episode 10 was strong and had a bit of everything from the serious stuff to the crazy drama.

Also, it honestly made me ready for Thanksgiving. This was mainly thanks to Richard's mentions of stuffing, biscuits and everything else. Thanks a lot, Richard!

I actually think Cristina was in the right to say to Meredith what she did. Yes Meredith is a mom and I know it's really tough. But she did let up. Bailey and Callie never let up. I honestly see what Cristina said as something encouraging and truthful. Meredith needs someone like Cristina pushing her to be amazing. Cristina caused Meredith to wise up to what had been going on with her career. Cristina didn't say it to be like you suck Meredith, she said it to be like hey, if you want your career to be awesome, you gotta make it that way. I think Meredith took it all wrong when it was just Cristina being the supportive Cristina we all know. And I think we've seen that in every episode since she said that because of how hurt Cristina is acting. Cristina never meant that from a mean place, just an honest place.

@ mercristinalover

Not so sure Christina's motives were completely selfless when telling Meredith that she was not as good a doctor as she once was. Christina's guiding force in life is a strong belief that you can't have it all. You must choose one path or the other - job or family and that you cannot truly succeed at one without failing at the other. She essentially gave uphaving a family because it would have held her back from achieving greatness as a physician. I think it is important to her that her best friend (formerly, anyway) doesn't prove her wrong. And as for Bailey and Callie doing it, I think they both did lose their edge some at first when they had kids. Also, if you have children you must know that having two toddlers is much more of a challenge than just having one.

@ turretgunner

I completely agree with you. Christina was just being honest. Thats what a friend is. She never said Meredith wasnt a good doctor, she said that she let up, and she couldnt sacrifice the patient because of it.
Being a good friend isnt just patting your friend on the head and telling them what they want to hear! Meredith has been acting like a spoiled brat, and Christina has been just letting her. To the point where even Derek isnt 100% on her side and interns are getting angry. Christina is mostly in the right onthis one.
And I love Jackson and Stephanie! He and April had heat, but she didnt appreciate him. They never felt like a true couple. He and Stephanie do. I hope they stay together!

I hate it that Cristina and Owen are not together.

'just OCD'? Excuse me?

@ McKirsty

@kandi1212 is correct. You've misunderstood as I was not emphasizing "just" by any means.

@ McKirsty

I'm pretty sure she didn't mean it as "JUST" OCD as in OCD not being a big deal, she probably just meant that she wonders if there and also even more psychological issues at play on top of the new onset of that.

This was a great episode.
I am not liking Christina! She takes Meredith's liver that is was printing out and says it is because she will be saving a babies life but she has tried printing several times and nothing has worked. Christina makes a schedule and says Mer has to stick to it but yet Christina has no respect and does not stick with it, she is not God and she needs to realize that! Mer was the one that got the printer in the first place! Sorry Christina but you are out of time and need to move on! Even Alex thinks she needs to come up with another option.
I liked the interns at the end with Webber.
I am not liking how Bailey is treating Ben! It is hard to feel sorry for her when she is being mean. She better get help soon!
I knew Callie was going to be understanding BUT hurt when Arizona told her she was seeing someone and I also knew when she found out it was Leah she was going to be upset but she was going to try and work through it. Arizona needs to not push her and if Callie needs her to sleep on the couch for a bit then Arizona needs to suck it up and do so.
I think I like Emma and Owen!

@ Mrs alex o'loughlin

I completely agree with you about Christina being out of line. Meredith had a very good point. Christina claimed that she had to start printing the valve ASAP because the child didn't have the time to wait, yet it has been days at this point. Alex is right, Christina should be focusing on getting the child a transplant right now and maybe AFTER Meredith is done using the printer she could go back to trying to create the valve replacement, for when the child needs another one. She is playing with the child's life and she is unwilling to admit that she may be wrong. Meredith is Shane's superior and he had no right speaking to her like that and she was completely right about the hero worship. Meredith is the only reason that the hospital has the printer and she was given the funds for it to do specific research. If every doctor stopped her research when they wanted to print something so they can revolutionize medicine she would never get it done and their would have been no point in them granting her research funding. I just hate that the writers are choosing to make the two be on the outs for most of Christina's last season. I guess they are trying to soften the blow that twisted sister fans are gonna take when Christina leaves.

April and Jackson can't even make it through a conversation without tearing up- they are most certainly not over!! Japril get it together!

Great episode.
Ps that pairing called Japril needs to stay dead and buried! Ugh! Matthew completes April and vice versa, same with Stephanie and Jackson.

I'm with others... I miss April and Jackson. Their new partners are nice but I really liked the chemistry between April and Jackson.

@ Me

I totally agree but I don't like Stephanie that much, I don't know why but I don't

@ pegsportsfan99

Not liking Stephanie since beginning , weak character and too pouty and she gets on my nerves , don't know why either but she does. Like the Japril pairing the chemistry is totally there.

Hated Shane yelling at Mer; hated Cristina kissing Shane, hate the conflict between Mer\Christina; hate that we have to have the new kids on the block thrown at us every week by pairing them with an Attending or Resident. And yes Mer is a little bitchy towards Cristina But Cristina hurt her badly and up until recently Mer had always sided with Cristina. Callie deserves better than Arizona right now. A one night stand you can try to forgive, a one night stand and a relationship is a different story. Bailey - I can't understand where OCD is coming from. This just can't be due to when Bailey's patients died.

Great episode!! Who was the actor that played the husband of the dying woman looking for a girlfriend for his wife's boyfriend. He looked so familiar! What show did he used to be on?

Sarah silva
@ Kate

Gordon Clapp he was on NYPD Blue!

Loved the episode! Who was the actor who played Victor? Husband of the dying woman looking for a woman for wife's boyfriend. He looked so familiar. What is his name and what show was he on?

I'm glad he's getting laid. I should be getting laid. My work suffers when I'm not. It's bad for humanity.

It was a revolutionary glob of spit.
