Miranda,
I totally agree with you. This was not my favorite episode. Olivia was not respectful of Jake.

Blame the writers for creating this absurd triangle with Fitz, Jake and Olivia. Jake was the rebound guy and was stupid to try and start a relationship with Olivia when she was clearly in love with someone else — The President. Duh! When Jake got mad about Olivia going to Fitz in this episode, I was thinking, "Dude, that's on you for being stupid."

I personally don't like the overemphasis on B613 and hated the spy stuff with Jake and Huck. If I want a super spy show, then I'll watch Homeland and similar shows. Scandal should not try to be all things to everybody. Get back to what made the show a hit, please.

This was a bit lower key than usual and the 'reveals' were plot movers rather than plot shakers. Like you, I too am getting tired of the way Olivia is treating people. TBH Mellie, the President and Liv are a fine triangle - they all deserve each other and the rest of humanity needs to lock 'em away somewhere away from the rest of us. You and I seem fairly well tuned in - I loved the Huck/Jake show. They were great together and I for one would def watch a spin off show. Daddy Pope is just too bad for words. He's getting to be a bit cartoon villain-ish. For me, the most interesting aspect was Quinn and her gun. She's come so far since the first series - and she's def going rogue. Can't wait to see how that plays out. But yes, Liv is a user. Fitz is a user. I'm beginning to dislike both of them.

To be honest, I did not like the episode much either, but that would make it yet another. Since the beginning of this season I am starting to be fed up with all the dad-head-of-secret-spying-agency-involved-in-mums-killing story line. Doesn't it sound familiar? I mean do not we have enough shows about spies with twisted family issues? This story line is becoming so predictable, it was obvious from already that moment Cyrus read that Remington file that Fitz was involved in something and you could easily guess that there would be something with Olivia's mum. Right know I am so fed up, that what I expect is that she actually did not die, but she was a double agent or something... because whether we want to admit it or not, this seems where the story of Olivia is heading. As much as I loved the second season, with all those twists and turns with Hollis and Verna, and Fitz's attempted assassination, I cannot stand this Nikita/Alias like plot about B613. Btw. remember the episode with the flashbacks when Huck was recruited? Command was not Olivia's dad, but some other guy, and it certainly could not have been more then 20 years ago... I am more and more convinced that the cliff-hanger of last season finale was pretty premature from the writers, I am not sure anything else could be written in the story of spies and secret agencies we have already seen on TV years ago. Moreover the involvement of Olivia and Fitz, feels like a good old style Mexican or Argentinian soap opera. Instead I would so much more like to see the original political plots we have had in last season, we have never learned what happened to Hollis and all Defiance thing, even if Cyrus destroyed the memory card. All the consequences of Olivia being publicly named as president's mistress had been dealt with so fast that we could have barely notice it, and feels little unrealistic - none of the scandal hungry journalist gone it to it??? with everything they have been capable to dig on all the other episode-characters we have had in last two seasons?
Even though promised we are still not getting more glimpse on all the other Gladiators, the Quinn storyline is... I don't even know how to describe it...she obviously has issues and what we are getting is just bits of pictures of her acting crazy... the same goes for Harrison, what do we know about that guy, and Abby and Mellie... What I am trying to say that there is a great potential in all those characters and instead of evolving their stories we are being treated with, as I said we have already seen ages ago in other shows.
As much as I loved the first to seasons that have kept me glued to screen, I dislike this storyline, I am watching it because I still have hope it will somehow get back on its track, but since the start of the season it only proves otherwise.

@Lucka I agree with you. I'm not into this Nikita/Alias like plot about B613 either.

I want the show to get back on track as well.

Couldn't agree more, though I do enjoy watching the interactions between Huck and Jake. My biggest hope though is for a Harrison-centric episode.

Cry me a river, the Jake fans are pissed at Olivia. Jake is the guy who made a sex tape of Olivia and gave her a concussion. Based on his comments in season 2, he has a grudge against Fitz that we don't know the details of as yet.

Mellie is a power hungry PIMP. She does not love Fitz and only wants to get back in the White House to be First Lady. If she loved him, she would have put an end to the affair a long time ago instead she keeps using Olivia so Fitz can stay President or she would have walked away and taken the offer of an amicable divorce with assistance for her future politic career.

I do agree that the love triangle nonsense needs to end. Jake can remain on the show as an enemy to Fitz and Rowan without the love triangle nonsense since I don't really think he loves Olivia and it is more he wants what Fitz has to get back at him.

BTW, since you complained that Olivia is using Jake then Jake is also using Olivia because he knows of her love for Fitz and he is still trying to have a relationship with her. That is on Jake since Olivia is not hiding the relationship from him. Don't blame Olivia for Jake's foolishness.

I think Olivia's mother may still be alive and maybe was a double agent. Or she was killed for being a double agent. Or she was leaving Rowan and he took revenge.

@ Anon. Very valid (and humorous) points, good synopsis.

Oliv's mom a double agent - that would be intriguing.

I thought this was a good episode except for the fact this they are making Fitz out to be this horrible person. As if he could knowingly kill Olivia's mother?! Im sick of the writers building us just to tear us down when it comes to Fitz and Liv. I'm sure she's not going to run his campaign now. So predictable.

Cry me a river indeed, they want the Jake show and I say go for it and you all can make Scott Foley a star and lets see how long that show lasts. Since the beginning Scandal has shown us that Olivia and Fitz love each other deeply, but because you don't like Fitz you think that should change. Give me a break , last week the worst episode of the season you guys thought was the best, so excuse me if I don't value your opinions. By the way no one complained about the fact that Olivia used Fitz to get Jake out but you guys are complaining about her using Jake to get to get to Fitz, oh please! Also we know that Fitz is being portrayed as the bad guy so that your guy can be viewed as a hero (which he will never be in my eyes) so again cry me a river. One last thing the triangle is stupid, it was stupid last season and it is stupid right now, it killed the show, Jake could have been introduced without having to be involved with Olivia.

@teamPOTUS, my comments were not directed at you, since were are on the same team. I am just tired of all these bloggers thinking that Scandal should be the Jake show. It was last week and a lot of people tuned out including me.

I disagree. Fitz didn't kill Liv's mother. Some of you guys never get the twist and turns. The writers want you to think Fitz is guilty, but he's not. Fitz is not a horrible person. As a matter of fact, I think he's one of the best written characters this season. He loves and have compassion. Yes, he has made plenty of mistakes, but he knows how to say I'm sorry.
Yeah, this site has always been Fitz haters. Cry me a river Jake fans. Don't give a hoot about Liv using Jake. She doesn't want Jake, she wants Fitz. You guys let Scott Foley interviews and projection cloud reality. Olitz is here to stay.

@ Marie

Thank you for saying this. I'm surprised that anybody really thinks that Fitz killed Liv's mother.

Since the decision to have Fitz kill Verna this is a total soap and it's starting to get more soapy all the time. Not complaining I still love Sonny on general hospital.

I loved this episode and I definitely loved Liv playing Jake like a fiddle. I did feel bad for Mellie, but not Jake. He's irrelevant and pointless. I loved the Fitz and Liv phone call. Kerry and Tony have chemistry even through a phone.

Stay MAD! So you are mad because Liv yanked Jake chain. Child please, Jake never had a chance anyway. Yes she used him. Just like he used her for sex and video tape her for her dad last season. Screw Jake and Screw you for writing this garbage. Liv and Fitz will always be the story. They are in love. I know some Olake fans thought this was living in la la land thinking Jake had a chance, but no. He is best with someone like Abby or Quinn. Liv is out of his league. Bye
