Rory and Amy are living lives quite unlike those they were living the last time viewers saw them. They seem quite grown up and hard, as though life has come crashing down around them while nobody was looking.
The Doctor goes up against The Daleks, but discovers its not the expected reasons at all. Once he is captured, he is in contact with a girl named Oswin Oswald who likes to bake souffles.
The Daleks still want to exterminate, and yet they are in a fight for their survival. They bring The Doctor for a very specific purpose, and Amy and Oswin are both victims of the Daleks in different ways.
