Everybody loves a good The Vampire Diaries flashback. So much so that Ian Somerhalder thinks producers should launch a Kickstarter to fund these fantastic episodes.

The Vampire Diaries Season 5 Episode 9 flashed back to 1953 and revealed troubling parts of Damon's past, most notably the fact that he spent 5 years as a test subject for the Augustine Society at Whitmore College. While there, he befriended a vampire named Enzo, who set Damon on a path of revenge that is causing present-day complications in his relationship with Elena.

Elsewhere, Stefan and Katherine got a little cozy in front of the fireplace.
