Castle Round Table: "Deep Cover"

Daddy's home.

James Brolin returned on Castle Season 6 Episode 12, as Jackson Hunt strirred up plenty of trouble for Rick.

Below, TV Fanatics Robin Harry, Jim Garner, Chandel Charles, and Christine Orlando are joined by Bobbie from the Castle Fan Board the 12th to debate the September wedding and whether Jackson Hunt should come back for more.

And don't forget you can always watch Castle online right here at TV Fanatic.

------------------------------------------------------

Do you think Jackson moved the body to the 12th precinct in order to use Castle for information on the case or to reconnect with him?

Robin: I think both.  Maybe not "reconnect" in the truest sense with Castle, but certainly to see him and be close to him. He also likely knew about and banked on the high competence of that unit.

Jim: Honestly, a little of both. He knew he was blown and needed someone he could trust. Kate and Rick fit that bill and it gave him a chance to see Rick again.

Chandel: I honestly believe it was a little bit of both. I think he wanted to see his son, but it didn't hurt that doing so contributed to him getting information.

Bobbie:  I WISH I could say that he wanted to reconnect, but in truth, I think he was more likely wanting to use Castle and Beckett. There's no doubt that his job comes first, but I think they also managed to show that he had some regrets for the life he'd chosen.

Christine: Like Bobbie, I hope there was some part of him that wanted to check in on his son but his attitude and behavior say that moving the body was much more of a tactical decision than an emotional one.

Would you like to see Jackson Hunt return again in the future?

Robin: I think it ended well with both Martha and Rick getting a bit of closure. However, it would be nice if came to see his son get married in September.

Jim: Absolutely! I love that Castle's Derek Storm novels pale in comparison to what Hunt has been through.

Chandel: I would like to see Jackson return again, if only so we can see him at the wedding or something. That is probably a long shot, though!

Bobbie: I was very anxious for him to return this time but now I'm not so sure there would be anything to be gained from another appearance. Maybe he could just send a wedding gift!

Christine: I think this episode wrapped up his storyline perfectly. As Castle said, Jackson Hunt really isn't a part of his family.  I'd be fine if they left it here.

Are you happy with the September wedding date?

Robin: I'm excited! It means we'll start off next season with a wedding. Ba de ya, dancing in September...

Jim: Not to hot, not to cold... might need to watch for blonde girls stealing their porridge, but beyond that it should be good.

Chandel: I found myself smiling when Castle suggested it. I think it is because I expect them to get married first thing next season in a big event, but I also liked Castle's suggestion for the choice. I am excited the month is set at the very least.

Bobbie: I'm fine with the September date. Since there's been virtually no progress towards a wedding until now, it just makes sense that they'll need the rest of this season to deal with the planning. Besides, it reassures us that there'll be a season 7!

Christine  I'm thrilled. It means we'll have the fun of wedding planning for the rest of this season and then hopefully a wedding for the Season 7 premiere. If they could make that a 2-parter I'd be thrilled.

Would you have been okay if Rick and Kate decided to run of and elope?

Robin: No way. For one, they're both only children, I don't think that would fly with their families (my parents would kill me).  Also, I definitely want to see the wedding, the party, the whole deal!

Jim: Of course! I'm dying to know if she will take his last name and become Detective Castle.

Chandel: I mean marriage is about love, so I would have supported the choice that best suit them, but I would have been really disappointed had to have not seen her dress!

Bobbie:  I would feel betrayed if TPTB had them elope, and I'll also feel betrayed if they treat the wedding like they did Kevin and Jenny's. Surely they know what a big deal this is for us shippers and I want this wedding to be the focal point of an episode.

Christine: I'm with Bobbie on this. We'll have waited 7 seasons. The wedding needs to be a big deal with lots of fun and emotion. I'm still hoping for a wedding on the beach at Rick's place in the Hamptons. And I really hope they ditch the case of the week and just concentrate on the wedding. Fans deserve that.

What was your favorite scene from this Castle Season 6 episode?

Robin: I liked the opening scene where they were discussing wedding plans. Beckett smiles so much more now, and it's awesome. Sometimes I worry that the chemistry between the two leads has dissipated a bit, but scenes like that put my mind at ease.

Jim: I really enjoyed Kate meeting Hunt for the first time as Martha helped stitch him up.

Chandel: probably that moment at the end where Rick suggested September. The look on Kate's face was priceless and it made my night!

Bobbie: Emotionally, I liked the 2 ending scenes with Kate and Castle at the precinct and then Castle and Martha at the loft window. However, I think the most important scene was when Castle brought Kate into the bedroom and introduced her to her future father-in-law. I was so thankful that they went the route of having Kate fully involved rather than shut out.

Christine: This is so hard. I loved Castle's decision to get married in December and the kiss on the head but my favorite scene goes to Martha. This episode gave Susan Sullivan her chance to shine. I thought her encouraging Rick to confide in Kate about his father was wonderful and the scene at the end where she tells Castle that he is her greatest gift was just perfect.

Martha: A little unsolicited advice.
Castle: Do you give another kind?

Castle: How about we have a winter wedding?
Beckett: Didn't we say we wanted to do it outside?
Castle: Oh, right. Frostbite isn't very festive.
