Days of Our Lives fans should expect big things this Valentine's Day - but if you don't want to be spoiled STOP READING NOW!

We know the question was popped once before, but this time it's the real deal, ending with an answer fans are dying to hear. Sonny Kiriakis and Will Horton will become officially engaged. 

In an interview with The Advocate, Guy Wilson and Freddie Smith - who play the couple frequently referred to by fans as WilSon - talk about playing Days first engaged gay couple.

Wilson, who had the challenge of stepping into the role of Will Horton this January after Chandler Massey left the series, says he's "thankful we're creating something that resonates with people and makes a positive impact." 

Smith, who has portrayed Sonny since 2011 says: "I've been waiting for this since the day I signed on," and that he's well aware of the impact these characters have made on the lives of viewers.

“I’ve gotten so many letters over the years from people in their teens to their sixties who were struggling with their sexuality and said seeing gay characters on our show helped them be more comfortable with who they are,” he adds.

“In fact, one of those letters that touched me the most was from a young man who told me he was able to come out to his grandmother by saying, ‘grandma, I want you to know that I’m just like Sonny.’ That really tugged at my heart because without this storyline he may have continued to keep his feelings to himself, but he was able to be comfortable enough to be honest instead. That’s why I’m so happy Days is showing this because it’s part of life and people need to see themselves reflected on TV.”

Unfortunately, the response hasn't all been positive, as Wison relates:

“No one has approached me on the street or anything, but I’ve gotten hateful antigay messages though social media and it makes me sad… Not because someone is being mean to me, but because there are some people out there who still have such vitriol for this kind of story."
