The Carrie Diaries Review: I Heart NY

at .  Updated at .

Carrie kicks off The Carrie Diaries Season 2 finale talking about milestones. High school graduation is certainly a major milestone that many people go through.

The Carrie Diaries Season 2 Episode 13 explored what happens after graduation.

Now that Carrie has decided to turn down NYU and take the job at Interview, Tom is barely speaking to her. Her graduation barely makes things better considering it just means that she is only one step closer to being a non-college student. Even Dorrit is supportive of Carrie!

I have to give Dorrit some major credit in her scenes with Tom. She may be young but she knows what she's talking about. Despite the fact that she and Tom were never close, she took it as a backhanded blessing because it meant she never had to worry about living up to certain expectations. Tom expected Carrie to go to college and that's why he was so disappointed. He wasn't even supportive when he heard that she and Larissa were fired form Interview.

What did Tom expect her to do? Malibu was a new opportunity and she's 18 with a decent head on her shoulders. it made me so sad that Carrie couldn't go to her father to talk about feeling lost post-high school. She made the decision not to go with Sebastian after hearing Larissa's wedding vows about finding home. Carrie Bradshaw knows that New York is her home.

Sometimes to chase after your future, you have to stop running and plant yourself in one place. Take a stand and fight for what you want. And know that even after the darkest of nights, the dawn will come. And you will find a place where you don’t have to hide. A place to call home.

Carrie

Carrie's scenes with Sebastian were so heartbreaking because they felt so final. Maybe it's because The Carrie Diaries has yet to get a season 3 renewal, but I really feel it was AnnaSophia Robb's acting and the genuine sobbing she did in Sebastian's arms. You can tell when it's a fake cry for TV. That felt painful.

So alas Carrie ended up staying in NYC and figuring it out with Samantha as her roommate. It's the start of a scary yet beautiful adventure. I only wish we could get a season 3 because I feel like now is when we would meet Miranda and Charlotte of Sex and the City fame.

As for everyone else? Mouse made up with West when they were crowned co-valedictorians. Maggie ended up getting engaged to Pete. Walt and Bennet were status quo, but it was a good thing. As for Sebastian? He's off to Cali alone. Only time, and the CW execs, will tell if they will reunite.

So do you think Carrie made the right decision staying in New York? Vote below and then sound off in the comments!
