Krysta Rodriguez Cast on How I Met Your Dad [Updated]

Krysta Rodriguez is on her way to CBS.

The former Smash star has landed a major role on How I Met Your Dad, the planned How I Met Your Mother spinoff from Carter Bays and Craig Thomas that will flip genders and focus on Greta Gerwig as Sally.

Rodriguez has been cast as Juliet, Sally's best friend, who is described as “a sexy, flamboyant force of nature who runs the most successful fashion blog in the country.”

Not shabby.

Krysta Rodriguez on Smash

In addition to portraying Ana Vargas Smash, Rodriguez has a long history on Broadway, having originated the role of Wednesday Addams in the 2009 musical The Addams Family.

NOTE: Rodriguez has dropped out and will be replaced by Tiya Sircar.

How I Met Your Dad will screen its pilot for CBS executives this spring, but it seems impossible to believe that it won't be ordered to series.

It joins a long list of possible spinoffs this year, from NCIS to Supernatural, Breaking Bad to CSI:
