NCIS Photo Gallery: Rocking the Target

by at .  Updated at . Comments

Following a week off, NCIS Season 11 will come back strong next Tuesday.

As teased below, a bomb will go off backstage at a military charity concert, prompting the team into action in order for them to determine the intended target.

This investigation leads Tony DiNozzo to spend a lot of quality time with an aging '80s rocker on NCIS Season 11 Episode 17

Check out these photos from "Rock and a Hard Place" - set to air Tuesday, March 18 on CBS - and don't forget that you can always watch NCIS online here at TV Fanatic.

An aging 80s rock star... Didn't they do one like that last season? S10E03?

NCIS has been renewed.

I hope they get back to an arc of some sort.......something that carries over..........This "bad guy of the week" type story is fine, but for season 11 they shouldn't need it anymore. As for what happen to cote and blaming Gary let all remember when Donald was in charge back in season 2 everyone though Michael Weatherly was leaving because he didn't sign a new contract, until that summer.

Looking forward to watching Episode 17 (A ROCK AND A HARD PLACE) of Season 11. For Tony fans, it seems he gets quite a bit of coverage, but I may be wrong and the only one featured is Bishop.

I agree with most of the comments. I am tired of most of these shows. I am now hooked on ABC's Castle. I have bought the first five seasons of Castle, watched them all and now really into season six. I can only hope the writer's don't ruin this show like they have NCIS. I never could get into NCIS, LA and now they are coming up with NCIS New Orleans. I will not watch it! The reruns of LA Law Special Victims Unit are really annoying so I have given up watching TV except for Castle. I now watch my own dvd's or JAG ( all ten seasons) and dvd movies that I own. TV is so expensive for watching commercials and crummy shows. I can't stand the reality shows either! I sure hope things get better soon!

Why aren't you on the Castle Fanatic page? NCIS true fans still watch, enjoy and support their series.

Amen to that Carol. I can't watch a show where I know there is discord. He doesn't get along with her so what's the point except for making money.... off us the viewers

I think Bishop is fine. The hate sounds exactly like when Ziva first started. Deal with it. What I would like to see is more of the JAG element in the show. Other than an occasional reference to someone having a JAG lawyer, JAG almost never gets mentioned. The inclusion of Chegwidden last season was nice. What I would really like to see is a deep CIA story arc that brings in Clayton Webb, possibly in a mission to take down Trent Cort gone rogue. After the La Grenouille arc, it was hinted at that he took over as the arms dealer in his place. There was some reference a while back about Ray Cruz taking care of Trent Cort, but I don't recall them settling it.

I think that the Olympics had a lot to do with the sporadic programming in February. I also have gotten the feeling that Cote de Pablo's unexpected and last minute resignation really put cast, crew, and writers in a pinch time wise. They had to rewrite and change and make a lot of new plans in a very short amount of time.

Also ... one week ago, @JesseStern, an AMAZING writer who wrote many of our favorite episodes, was on Twitter last week talking about NCIS. He wrote Truth or Consequences. He mentioned that while they filmed it, Cote had not signed her new contract, so they had a whole backup plan. He had already written her death scene. in other words, it is NORMAL to have a backup plan. If Mr. Glasberg truly had no backup plan, then he is very unprofessional.

Lori there was a definite possibility of death fro Ziva after the end of season 6 as she was in the hands of terrorists. What would have been the excuse for her death this year, that a guy we didn't even know about yet got her, because she let her guard down? The end of season 10 did not lend itself to that kind of start to season 11. Would a bullet to the head have been a satisfactory ending to the Ziva saga? Or another hostage drama with a bad ending?

Perhaps. But from what I understand they had already written 5 episodes. They were apparently under the impression that CdP would be back. While it may be true that they should have taken seriously the possibility that she might not be back, IMO, she should have told them much sooner. Since they obviously believed that she was coming back, and if she wasn't; going to come back no matter what, or unless she got top billing, more money than God, whatever - she should have made it clearer. Of course I don't know what really happened but it does seem that they were quite caught by surprise.

I don't agree. The network holds all the cards. They were negligent in the extreme. So typical.

Ok Maria no one said they had to rewrite a whole season or even ten episodes. Hyperbole is the weapon of the political class in this country, to victimize and vilify. We don't know what happened, the only truth we know is that Pauley was shocked and Mark Harmon was blind sided. Draw your own conclusions from that, and then project forward. We still end up with someone else sitting across from Tony in the bullpen.

"The writers had to do the entire season over when Cote left" excuse got old 10 episodes ago. At this point they have had months to recover and they have just come off as having no idea what to do. Even I do not believe that it should not have been used in the first place because they should have had a contingency plan because she was not under contract yet. If she would have left in the middle of a contract then they could have used that excuse. However even when this has happened in the cases of Heigl, Eads, and Patinkin no one ever whined and used this excuse as much.

I concur with you, Erin. This really set them back on their heels. THey were already in preproduction probably doing table reads. Jesse Stern may have had a backup plan for the episode, TorC, but if you think back to the first four episodes of season 7, they would have had to bleep out almost a third of all those episodes, and rewrite them all while going through the shooting schedule of the first episode IF the timeframe of last minute sign up was a week before shooting started. I don't think that was the case. She resigned more than a week before shooting was to begin, by a long shot . Many think NCIS will be signing off in the next year or so why would you want to leave your character so damaged, and almost unredeemable ,and walk away, for a small part in a movie. Not a clear thought process to me. I know that wouldn't have been my style.

Obviously, we may never know what went wrong in negotiations, or if CdP just decided that she didn't want to be tied to that job at the last minute. It just seems like it would have been nicer on her part, if she knew that she was seriously considering not coming back to have let someone know. From what I understand, when she made the decision she called only Mark Harmon to tell him and he was quite surprised and upset. While there may be extenuating circumstances for her behavior if she really cared about her former co workers, she might have felt the need to give them a heads up prior to a week before filming. The scripts were written and plans had been made. IMO her behavior was very unprofessional not to mention extremely inconsiderate.

They may have had 5 eps written. but it is NORMAL to have a backup plan. they knew FULL WELL she didn't sign, as they do EVERY TIME actors don't sign. No matter what they believe. that's just being professional.

I agree with Mel 100%

I totally agree with those who dislike the spasmodic scheduling of series. One reason I like HBO shows is they are once a week every week for the whole season. Stories with any continuing story line do not do well with gaps of 2, 3 and 4 weeks between episodes. A series used to be 26 episodes from Sept to May. Now they try and stretch 13 episodes between Sept and April.

I won't complain about NCIS and Bishop. At least the writers aren't like The Mentalist....Those idiots changd the whole format AND 90% OF THE ORIGINAL TEAM. Totally ruined the show....IF we ever get to see an episode!! So sick of all these reruns...and junk filling in the time slots. Breaks off two weeks or three...All the time!! ALL the shows....

NCIS Season 11 Episode 17 Quotes

All right. Okay. Put your drinks down. On a coaster. And make your way in an orderly fashion to the front door, or I will shoot you. That means you, mullet.

Tony

Palmer: I take it you heard?
Gibbs: Mmm hmm.
Palmer: Yeah, she saw the baby and just....I guess she felt the same way we felt when we first saw him. Can't fault her for that, right?
Gibbs: You should go home.
Palmer: I will. Yeah Breena and I, we just wanted to get all this stuff out of the house. You know, we wanted to give it back as soon as possible.
Gibbs: We.
Palmer: Me. She's hurting too, but she is so much stronger. She's ready to try again. And me - I feel like I can't breathe. I never felt this bad in my life, Gibbs.
Gibbs: Well, just wait until it's 3:00 in the morning, and your kid's running 104. You're just getting started.
Palmer: That's the point. I'm not starting, you know? Maybe I never will.
Gibbs: Well then fight for it, Palmer! That's what you do. You fight for your family. And sometimes, you fight like hell just to have one.
Palmer: You want me to fight, I feel like I just went ten rounds with Joe Louis.
Gibbs: Do you want to be a dad, Palmer? Because right now, this is being a dad.
Palmer: Maybe I'm not ready.
Gibbs: You wouldn't feel the way you feel, right now, if you weren't ready.
