Days of Our Lives Recap: A Most Wonderful Wedding

at .

It was a week monopolized by Sonny and Will's wedding but that's certainly not a complaint. When it came to mixing tears with laughter and bringing friends and family together, Days got this one right.

I was wondering what the bachelors party might be like and thankfully they went for laughs as a female stripper was mistakenly sent instead of a male one. I loved how T shook his head at such a waste of a great talent as the scantily clad "cop" danced for Sonny.

Everyone had their moment. Some of them supplying us with wonderful Days of Our Lives quotes

Sonny: You have had a lot of weddings here.
Victor: Unfortunately most of them were mine. I had the caterers on retainer their for a while.

So very true. I've lost count of how many weddings characters like Victor, Sami, Marlena, and Kate have had over the years. But with all of those ceremonies, I can't say I remember many of them invoking actual tears. This one did, over and over again. Let's start with Sami's conversation with her oldest son before the ceremony…

From the very first moment I laid eyes on you, I knew you would be the best thing I ever did. And you still are.

Both Justin and Lucas did an excellent job with their speeches but Caroline's was special. First because everyone wondered if she was having an Alzheimer's moment as she remembered two men who came into the pub when she and Shawn first opened it decades ago. But she had a very poignant point to her story. Those men were a couple who had to hide who they were from everyone, even their family.

Thankfully Sonny and Will both get to be who they are and love who they want and not hide it from anyone. As a matter of fact they get to celebrate it.

I wondered how Marlena as the officiant would go off but she did an admirable job…

May the love that you share be the bond that brings you strength and comfort and joy all the days of your lives.

And as the wedding wound down and I put away the tissues, I was reminded that there were other couples in Salem.

I actually felt sorry for Theresa when the tray got dumped on her at the reception. Of course perhaps it was karmic payback for grabbing a used picture frame and using it as a wedding gift.

Theresa and Brady are growing on me and I'm growing as tired as they are at everyone, this time Roman, chastising them for their relationship. They're both adults and although they're probably a train wreck waiting to happen, that's their business.

Jennifer and Daniel's checkbook incident was ridiculous. I think Jennifer needs to book an appointment with Marlena to work through her overreaction to men who offer to help.

The more I see of Nicole and Daniel, the more I love their friendship. They're honest with one another, mostly and always playful. I can't help but smile when he calls her Legs.

Nicole's going to need her good friend, considering how things are going with Eric. I don't know how they work this out. Eric won't sleep with Nicole unless they're married but he'll only marry her in a Catholic church, an organization that won't recognize a marriage to Nicole. If Eric feels that strongly about the rules of the church then perhaps this is where they should call it quits.

Speaking of weddings, Sami was lamenting how her and EJ's wedding will never measure up to her son's. Unfortunately for her, she's absolutely right.

So what did you think of Will and Sonny's big day and even more importantly, who wore the best dress?

I don't know how Rafe mansplained this to you, but I was upset over losing Will and he was upset over losing you and we were just two exes trying to comfort each other.

Sami

He's taken enough from our family. I will not allow him to ruin our lives any more than he already has.
