On Reign Season 1 Episode 17, Mary learns of a secret clause in the marriage contract between her and Francis forged by their mothers, Mary de Guise and Queen Catherine.
This does not make Mary happy, and she's about to use her power as Mary Queen of Scots to take care of business.
Mary de Guise (guest star Amy Brenneman) will likely have no idea what's coming, but that's not a surprise since she has barely seen her daughter since her birth.
Together, Mary and Francis decide to put into action a dangerous plan to turn Scotland against Mary de Guise. The Queen of Scots gets her first real taste of power as a result.
