Colin Farrell to Star on True Detective 2?

Come on down, Colin Farrell?
With HBO set to officially announce the stars of True Detective Season 2 in the near future, Deadline reports that Farrell is deep in negotiations to star in the next version of this critically-acclaimed drama.
Following the praise heaped upon Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson (both 2014 Emmy nominees), it's been expected that creator Nic Pizzolatto could practically have his choice of follow-up stars.
Farrell most recently starred in Seven Psychopaths, Saving Mr. Banks and Winter’s Tale.
It remains unclear whether True Detective Season 2 will feature two or three leading men/women.
(UPDATE: Taylor Kitsch is also under consideration for a main role.)
