Extant Debuts Strong, Fails to Match Under the Dome

Extant debuted strong for CBS last night, garnering 9.4 million viewers and a 1.7 rating among adults 18-49.

It was the most-watched series of the evening and now stands as summer’s most watched and highest-rated series debut.

However, the Halle Berry-anchored drama failed to match Under the Dome’s huge premiere last summer among young adults, though CBS is still likely very pleased with the numbers.

  • Taxi Brooklyn held steady and earned 4.7 million total viewers for NBC.
  • So You Think You Can Dance (3.7 mil/1.2) dropped 10 percent and two tenths, respectively.
  • Nearly 4 million people somehow tuned in to Motive.
