TV Ratings Report: Arrow Starts Strong, New Shows Fall Further

A day after The Flash Season 1 Episode 1 became The CW's highest-rated episode since the series premiere of The Vampire Diaries in 2009, Arrow continued this network's super strong week.

Arrow Season 3 Episode 1 brought in 2.8 million viewers and earned a 1.0 rating among 18-49-year olds.

These figures represent an 18 percent and 11 percent, respectively, from the Season 2 finale in May.

Elsewhere around the dial...

  • On CBS, Survivor (9.5 million/2.5) held steady, while Criminal Minds (10.5 million/2.3) and Stalker (8.1 million/1.7) both fell 15 percent among young adults. 
  • On ABC, The Middle (7.3 million/2.0) and The Goldbergs (7 million/2/2) held firm, while Modern Family (10.1 million/3.4) decreased by 5 and 8 percent, though Black-ish (8 million/2.8) rose two tenths. Nashville (5.5 mil/1.5) remained basically the same as last week.
  • On Fox,  Hell’s Kitchen (3.8 million/1.4) stayed steady, but Red Band Society (2.9 million/0.9) was down 12 and 18 percent. It may be the first new show to get canceled.
  • On NBC, Mysteries of Laura (8.5 million/1.3) dropped 6 and 13 percent; Law & Order: SVU (7.6 million/1.7) dipped a tenth; and Chicago P.D. (6.7 mil/1.5) held steady.
