Covert Affairs Season 5 Episode 13 Review: She Believes

at .  Updated at .

There were some unlikely alliances as everyone came together to find Auggie on Covert Affairs Season 5 Episode 13.

There wasn't much action this week. That's not entirely a bad thing, but it was still a little disappointing.

Picking straight up from were we left off on Covert Affairs Season 5 Episode 12, Annie teamed up with Olga; an excellent way to advance the storyline in Germany. She was obviously hesitant, as she didn't know much about Olga, but what she did know was bad. Olga was a joy to watch. It's always good when a show paints a character as a villain, before pulling the rug from under us, making us feel for them.

Olga most certainly had a motive in her quest to end Belenko's life. He ended her husband's life, so why shouldn't she end his? Annie was very patient with Olga. She only let her know the information she needed to know, nothing more. She'd obviously been burned so many times in the past that she didn't want it to happen again, especially with Auggie's life on the line.

I don't blame you. I wouldn't talk in front of me either.

I was surprised Annie managed to blackmail Belenko's doctor so easily. Everyone he is associated with seems really tough, so I expected him to alert Belenko somehow. The whole scene involving the doctor and Belenko before Annie appeared was nail biting. I expected Belenko to just open the door to the room Annie was in!

Olga's scare tactics reminded me of Jack Bauer's from 24. It was a brutal interrogation scene. When she broke his finger, I knew things were going to get ugly real fast for him; rightfully so.

There was a much-needed shot of adrenaline when we found out that Belenko had a tracker in his mouth. Smart move! The tracker also meant the end of the road for Olga. After being shot, Annie managed to get her to safety, only for her to be reunited with her husband on the other side. I had a tear in my eye when Annie put the German postcard in her hand. It was a real tearjerker. I honestly can't believe we lost her so soon.

Meanwhile back in America, McQuaid enlisted the help of Joan, who was very reluctant to let him help find Auggie. Her claims that Auggie should have been in a safe house fell on deaf ears. Wasn't she the one who suspended him as soon as he went to her for help? She must have realized this as she dropped her hostility towards McQuaid as time progressed.

She also told Annie Langley would give her all the resources she required to find Auggie. Yep, I think she feels bad!

I admit, I never really liked Sidney, but I feared for her life when she rushed bugging her sugar daddy. I was certain her luck was going to run out and she was going to be in danger. Thankfully, she managed to get out of this one unscathed.

Did anyone else feel like Calder was taking his jealousy of Sidney sleeping with sugar daddy out on him when he and Joan detained the guy? Anyone in the same circumstances would be jealous if their love interest had to sleep with someone else!

We're not the police or the feds you piece of shit.

Calder

McQuaid's loyalty to Annie was proven. I didn't much like him before this, but going out his way to save one the best friends of the woman he loves made me warm to him.

Considering the story was all about saving Auggie, we didn't see much of him. We're still no closer to him being saved and I expect Belenko to make him pay for the pain Annie caused him. Hopefully Belenko's illness kills him before he inflicts too much pain on him!

"She Believes" was pretty decent. I expected more considering the build up from last week, but sometimes it's good to have the calm before the storm. The storm looks it will be coming in two weeks based on the promo shown!
