Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 6 Review: Don’t Let’s Start

at .  Updated at .

We took a break from the character and couple-centric standard on Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Episode 6, as the hour gave us a dose of just about everything and everyone we've been missing.

I was honestly looking forward to Derek's dinner party, but of course nothing went as planned. With Meredith and Derek getting busy and quite steamy (I still miss you, McSteamy), Richard and Maggie finally talked again.

I'm glad that Richard said what he needed to say. Although I understood where Maggie was coming from, it's hard not to just side with Richard. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if that family dinner doesn't happen by season's end.

By the way, I kind of loved that Derek was trying to help Meredith have her own very crazy and messy family. I, too, am so grateful for my big and sometimes perfectly insane family.

Speaking of family, April's mom was in town. Unfortunately, April didn't want her help at all. Jackson did, but I couldn't help but wonder where the infamous Catherine Avery was. I really expected to see her playing the grandma card already.

This episode featured several medical cases that were very interesting and even hit home for some of the doctors.

Owen, Callie and Jo helped a patient who was car-jacked. While Owen became attached after learning the patient served in Iraq, Jo was reminded of her high school days when she was homeless.

Elsewhere, Ben and Bailey dealt with a patient who was dealing with heartburn. They soon found out that he actually had a cancerous tumor. This caused Bailey to run her own labs as she realized that she need to take care of her health ASAP.

Meanwhile, Arizona continued struggling to impress Dr. Herman. We found out that Dr. Herman has a death sentence with an inoperable brain tumor. She was hard on Arizona because she wanted her to learn a year's worth of medicine in six months.

Arizona must keep Dr. Herman's secret from Owen and the board. Will she be able to?

Side note: that fetal surgery was intense and it's no wonder Dr. Herman was on Arizona's ass for not memorizing every little note. Arizona's going to have to keep stepping it up.

Other Thoughts:

  • Amelia was MIA. Where's the dislike button?
  • I couldn't help but chuckle when Bailey claimed that she ran for half a mile and was sore as heck. Been there, done that... numerous times!
  • Jolex finally had a brief but totally awesome moment. More Jolex, please!
  • Check back early next week to chime in on the Grey's Anatomy Round Table.

Overall, I thought this installment felt like classic Grey's Anatomy. There was a good mix of family drama, intense medical cases, sex, and so much more that keep us coming back every Thursday night.

So, what did you think of "Don't Let's Start?" Which medical case did you think was the most interesting? Will Arizona be able to keep Dr. Harmen's secret? Hit the comments now and let's discuss!
