Despite spending weeks in his pajamas after getting banned from the 12th, Rick Castle has a plan on Castle Season 7 Episode 11 and he hopes it will get him partnered with Beckett once again.

Unfortunately, it doesn't go quite according to plan but Rick's not about to back down. With his private investigator's license in hand, he's determined to try and solve the latest murder case before Kate and her team at the 12th.

Espo thinks he hasn't got a shot, Perlmutter makes things as difficult as he can and Gates is furious that he's trying to weasel his way back in but Ryan's got Castle's back. When Beckett says she doesn't think Castle is resourceful enough to solve the case on his own, Ryan points out that he did get her to marry him. Besides, Rick Castle is not one to give up. 

In the end, it's an old college newspaper, a fluffy dog named Sparkles and Castle P.I. that help Beckett bring a killer to justice. But despite all his help, it's still just not enough to get Castle back in to the NYPD but it does get him some very cool gifts from his wife.
