Everyone was on edge as a hired assassin had no problems killing not only the witness he was tasked with eliminating but the FBI agents who protected them on The Mentalist Season 7 Episode 8.

With Kelvin Bittaker on trial for murder, he needed the one witness who could seal his fate to be gone, permanently. So his family hired Lyden, a trained assassin to get the job done. Agent Spackman returned to ask Abbott and his team to take on the case of protecting the witness and finding the hired gun. Unfortunately, when they finally hunted the man down, he shot Spackman.

The bullett hole that left a whole in Lisbon's sleeve also left Patrick Jane on edge and dealing with sleepless nights. Leave it to Lisbon to sing him to sleep with songs from Bon Jovi. 

But when the assassin was in the hotel stalking the witness, Jane sent Lisbon on a wild goose chase to the other end of the building. Later, the killer was caught, their witness survived asn was able to testify against Kelvin Bittaker but Lisbon was furious with Jane. Despite her anger, Jane was certain they could work it out but Lisbon didn't look quite as convinced.
