Justified Season 6 Episode 6 Review: Alive Day

Wonderful things can happen when you sow seeds of distrust in a garden of assholes. –Raylan Givens

Things definitely heated up in Justified Season 6 Episode 6, as the levels of trust were shaken and the members of each group seemed to turn on each other.

The U.S. Marshals at least remain on relatively solid ground, but I do wonder about Art’s talk with Rachel about letting certain things go for the sake of the case. She seemed not to question Raylan about Ava running, but might that come back to bite her?

The Wynn and Katherine relationship was called into question after Avery proposed to her. Katherine and Avery are two major power players, and it makes you wonder who is really playing whom.

Wynn seemed smart enough to question that, but might Katherine be playing Wynn as well?

I was suspicious that no dissent had formed within Boyd’s group, but as soon as Boyd’s buddy noticed the lack of rotted wood, I knew he was done. Though, we really got to see some real fear in Boyd’s eyes as he almost fell through.

So why was he saved? There has to be something else at play.

The last minute reveal from Limehouse certainly gave Boyd a new target in Ava, and I definitely fear for her safety now. It was a great way to end the hour especially after everything that had just taken place.

But it was the rift in Avery’s group that really stood out to me.

Raylan’s news to Avery about the death of the realtor set things in motion, and we saw Avery really take control of the situation sending Ty after his buddy Choo Coo.

It was great to hear that conversation about Choo Choo and Ty as he pretty much pleaded to Avery. But one loose string could cause everything to unravel...

I loved hearing Choo Choo speak with the girl, question if they needed to kill her, or even that look of realization when Ty and his backup arrived.

I was worried Choo Choo was going to be killed right there. Instead, Raylan and Tim arrived for a tense standoff that followed up with a fantastic gun battle. Bullets flying everywhere, people being hit, and Choo Choo and Ty getting away.

Well, that is until Choo Choo parked on the railroad tracks to get hit by the train. Instead, he simply died from his gunshot wounds.

Poor Choo Choo. I’m gonna miss that guy.

This was such an engaging episode with plenty of drama, action and surprises. The dialogue remains top-notch as always, and every character from the big guns like Boyd and Raylan to the smaller ones like Choo Choo continue to stand out on their own.

With the way everything has been going, I’m definitely excited to see how Justified ends. (Probably with bullets.)
