Rizzoli & Isles Season 5 Episode 13 Review: Bridge to Tomorrow

Is there anyone for whom you’d jump off a bridge? How about someone you barely know?

Well, Jane Rizzoli did just that in Rizzoli & Isles Season 5 Episode 13 and not everyone took it well.

Jane must be one hell of a strong swimmer because she not only saved herself, she also seemingly saved Paul. But as Korsak said in this Rizzoli & Isles quote

People have gone in the water around here and been swept right out to sea but they weren't Jane Rizzoli.

Korsak

Frankie ran to Jane, definitely in brother mode as he called her Janie and embraced her but Maura bolted. She was hurt that Jane didn’t think about anyone else when she jumped into that water but more than that. Maura was feeling guilty for not doing more to save her friend.

It felt so wrong to have Jane dealing with a trauma without Maura by her side. Yes, Angela was there but Maura’s always been the one to help Jane through these things. It wasn’t until they talked it out that things felt right in the world once again.

Maura: Did you think about any of us before you jumped.
Jane: No I didn't. I didn't think about you and I didn't think about my family. I didn't even think about myself. The only person that I thought about was Paul and that I was the only one that could help him. I wasn’t going to let him drown.

I found it funny that Korsak asked Jane if she was sure about Paul’s innocence.  She jumped off a bridge for the man for goodness sakes! How much more sure could she be?

I had no doubt it was the wife all along, especially when her alibi consisted of being online. When they began showing her chess match, it became obvious that it was preprogrammed. The wife’s anger and hatred were pretty horrifying. She actually enjoyed killing Dani and making Paul suffer as much as possible. Her rage was truly scary.

Elsewhere, Angela lost a job because she didn’t have a college degree. It’s sad because a college degree really isn’t necessary to manage a restaurant. I’m interested and seeing where Angela finally lands.

Korsak finally came up with a plan for his future. He bought his favorite bar. I’m simply thrilled that they’ll stop talking about his retirement as that felt as though it was dragged out for most of the season.

I’m with Jane about Korsak dumping Kiki as his life coach and making her his girlfriend but I have enjoyed listening to him parrot Kiki’s advice. That said, I’d like to see Korsak happy with someone and so far Kiki sounds like the right fit.

After jumping off a bridge Jane wanted two things…beer and homemade ravioli. I love how Maura took Jane’s bucket list seriously even if she didn’t agree with it. I only wish I could be there to enjoy those ravioli.
