Once Upon a Time Season 4 Report Card: Grade It!

at .  Updated at .

This season started off with a Frozen Storybrooke and ended up with the Queens of Darkness searching for their own versions of a happy ending.

By the end of Once Upon a Time Season 4, we were left catching our breath and counting the days until the start of season 5.

Take a look back as we list our Favorite Episodes, Most Shocking Twist, Worst Couple and so much more in our Once Upon a Time Season 4 Report Card...

Best Episode: Once Upon a Time Episode 23. “Operation Mongoose” parts 1 and 2 had Regina as a bandit, Snow White as the Evil Queen and Hook allergic to rum. The season 4 finale was the perfect combination of quirky fun and shocking twists that kept us guessing until the end.

Worst Episode: Once Upon a Time Season 4 Episode 6. We love Elizabeth Mitchell but the Snow Queen fell a bit flat and the look into Belle’s past felt as though it went nowhere. Then Belle betrayed Rumpel by using the dagger to get her way, not knowing he was already betraying her by having swapped the real dagger earlier. And Regina worried that the only way to save Marian was for Robin to fall back in love with her. All around we found “Family Business” to be a depressing installment.

Best Villain: Cruella de Vil. The woman who started off as a cartoon character turned out to be the most evil of the bunch. As a child she killed her own father, killed her step-fathers and then had her dogs tear her own mother to pieces. We never suspected that the happy ending Cruella was looking for was to have the Author return her ability to kill.

Most Disappointing Recurring Character: Belle. Apparently if she’s not paired with Rumpel there’s not much for her to do in Storybrooke. We understand there are a lot of great characters on the canvas but our favorite book-loving Princess wasn't given much to do this season.

Most Disappointing New Character: Will Scarlett. Anyone who watched Once Upon a Time in Wonderland knows Will Scarlett as an incredibly entertaining character but if you saw him on Once Upon a Time you’d have no clue. We're still left wondering what was the point of bringing him to Storybrooke in first place.

Most Shocking Twist:  Although many suspected that Henry was the new Author, we never expected that Emma would turn into the new Dark One. When we were teased that Emma’s heart would turn dark, we never thought it would end up like this.

Worst Twist: Marian is actually Zelena who is pregnant with Robin Hood’s baby. Seriously?!? Is this Days of Our Lives or Once Upon a Time?

Best New Trend: Regina and Emma working together. When Regina thought she'd lost Robin Hood for good in Once Upon a Time Season 4 Episode 12, it was Emma who tried to help in this Once Upon a Time quote...

Regina: I'm not in the mood for a hope speech, Emma.
Emma: You're mistaking me for my mother. Besides you don't need a speech, you need a drinking buddy. Shots?

Best Kiss: Robin Kisses Regina before he leaves Storybrooke. When the only way to save Marian is to leave Storybrooke forever, leave it to Robin Hood to do the honorable thing, but not before giving Regina one heck of a goodbye kiss in Once Upon a Time Season 4 Episode 12

Best Advice: Hook to Emma in Once Upon a Time Season 4 Episode 1

There is always a crisis. Perhaps you should consider living your life during them otherwise you might miss it.

Hook

Hopes for Once Upon a Time Season 5:

  • More of Emma and Hook. They’ve been an official couple all season but we feel like we’ve barely scratched the surface.
  • Some quality time for Regina and Robin Hood now that they’ve gotten their happy ending.
  • A new direction for Snow and Charming. They felt a little stale this season.
  • Instead of introducing so many new characters each season, we'd like to see some of our favorites regulars get more screen time.
