The Magicians: Ordered to Series at Syfy

The Magicians are coming to Syfy.
Based upon a trilogy of books by Lev Grossman, the series, which has received a 13-episode pickup, focuses on Quentin Coldwater, portrayed by Jason Ralph (Madam Secretary, Aquarius).
Coldwater is a brilliant grad student Brakebills College for Magical Pedagogy, a secret upstate New York university specializing in magic.
Soon Coldwater and his 20-something friends discover the magical world they read about as kids is all too real and actually poses a threat to humanity. Stella Maeve (Chicago PD), Hale Appleman, Arjun Gupta and Summer Bishil also star in the one hour drama.
"The Magicians pilot beautifully delivers a world filled with wonder, fantasy and intrigue," said Dave Howe, President, Syfy. "We can’t wait to delve deeper into the lives of Quentin and his college friends, as they struggle with the enormity of their burgeoning powers – and unleash them upon the world."
