The summer of love continues!

Thanks to strong digital viewing after an experimental release for four weeks after the series premiere, NBC has decided to give a second season renewal to Aquarius, starring David Duchovny, Grey Damon and Emma Dumont.

The series follows two LAPD police officers in the 60s from different eras who begin working together when a search for a missing girl brings them into contact with future serial killer, Charles Manson.

"With its riveting drama and innovative release strategy, Aquarius has excited the critics, hooked millions of viewers and energized our summer. It’s no secret that the way people watch television is evolving, so we took a unique approach to how we delivered Aquarius and it’s driven some record numbers for NBC Digital and helped us reach viewers who might have otherwise overlooked a great summer drama," NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke said.

With the decision for renewal resting so heavily on the digital platform, it will be interesting to see how NBC moves forward with additional programming in the area and whether other networks follow suit.

Hodiak: You, dirtbag, have the right to, but you don't deserve, or I'll kick your teeth in. How's that?
Shafe: Seriously?
Hodiak: I can't remember it exactly.
Shafe: You know it?
Hodiak: Do you?
Shafe: I got the, uh, card that they handed out.
