19 Things We Want to See in a Gilmore Girls Revival

Copper Boom!

Gilmore Girls has been off the air for over 8 years, but the long-running WB/CW show is never far from the hearts of fans who keep it alive on Netflix.

When news broke of a possible Netflix revival, fans immediately began dreaming up the stories that they most want to see for our favorite Stars Hollow citizens.

While having Lorelai and Rory on our screens is amazing enough, the even better news is that the four-part movie-sode revivals will be penned by none other than Gilmore Girls creator, Amy Sherman-Palladino, who left the series in 2006 after contract negotiations fell through.

What are some of the things we hope to see when the Gilmore Girls return? Read on to find out, and comment with any other stories you're hoping to see!

1. Wedding Bells for Luke and Lorelai

We certainly hope that there is some payoff for longsuffering Gilmore fans who endured the nearly four-season wait for the flagship relationship to come to fruition. After weathering breakups, makeups and surprise children, we deserve to see our happy ending!

2. A Tribute to Richard

Sadly, earlier in the year Hollywood lost Edward Herrmann, who portrayed the patriarch of the Gilmore clan. While it will be devastating to watch as Emily lives on as a widow, we do hope that respect is paid to Richard in a tasteful and meaningful way.

3. Hep Alien, Reunited

Zach and Lane could totally be amazing parents on the road, right? It seems more than likely that ASP will reunite the band, and work some magic to bring back Brian and Gil as well. We need a dose of, “Rebecca in the Morning,” please. Did Zach ever finish, “Stella”? We’d take that too.

4. Sookie

With Melissa McCarthy’s career taking off in the years since the show went off air, it seems like it might be tough to get her to revive the clumsy chef for the reboot. We’re keeping our fingers crossed that McCarthy can make time for an appearance. Stars Hollow wouldn’t be the same without her signature dishes or her happy accidents!

5. Mr. Kim

An ongoing mystery on Gilmore Girls surrounded the whereabouts of Lane’s father, Mr. Kim. Sure, we knew he existed, he was mentioned numerous times. But where IS he? We think it’s about time to put an end to this great mystery.

6. A June 3rd Release Date

What was the date Rory was sentenced for her yacht-stealing crime? June 3rd. When was Lorelai and Luke’s canceled wedding scheduled for? June 3rd. Shouldn’t the devoted Gilmore fans have something pleasant to associate June 3rd with?

7. Gilmore Girls Bonding

The heart of Gilmore Girls was always the relationship between Lorelai and Rory. With Richard gone, it would be nice to bring Emily into that fold, and allow her to take her rightful spot as one of the girls, as well. The chemistry is always better when all three Gilmore girls share the screen.

8. Liz and TJ

While some fans groan at the thought of, “I, am in eskerow,” many others couldn’t get enough of Luke’s flighty sister and her soul mate Gary, better known as TJ. Could Liz be an Internet businesswoman, with her own renaissance jewelry empire? Did little Doula grow up well-adjusted? There are so many ways to incorporate Liz and TJ into these revivals, and we can’t wait to see what antics they’ve been up to!

9. Closure on Rory's Love Life

For over a decade, fans have been declaring themselves as Team Dean, Team Logan, or Team Jess. (Or in some rare cases, Team Marty.) Could Rory definitively end up with one of her former loves, or will she be in a brand new romance when the show returns? Only time will tell. (But seriously, Team Jess.)

10. Kirk and Lulu, Married with Children

How great would it be to find Kirk, years later. as a competent dad, raising his kids just as weirdly as his mother seems to have raised him? It would defy all odds, and make for some excellent Kirk stories.

11. Town Meetings

Taylor needs to call a town meeting in every installment. We’ve all been sorely missing our weekly meetings with the interesting and quirky citizens of Stars Hollow, and we need to see what technology would have done to Taylor Doose. Facebook polls? A twitter account, perhaps? Who knows how Taylor would be promoting tourism in Stars Hollow!

12. A New Catchphrase

Who knew that, “Copper Boom!” would take off? “Oy, with the poodles already!” became a part of many fans’ vocabularies. What new catchphrase will Amy Sherman-Palladino deliver to us with the revival? We can only imagine.

13. Dragonfly Success

Lorelai deserved nothing but success after working hard to open her dream inn. We’d love to see how she’s grown on that success. Are there other Dragonfly Inns? Is she a big-wig in the tourism industry? Did Mike Armstrong call and give her a second offer, one that she couldn’t refuse? One thing will be certain certain: Michele is still holding down the fort behind the desk at the Dragonfly.

14. A Well-Adjusted Christopher

Chris had his share of ups and down over the many seasons of Gilmore Girls. Isn’t it about time that we saw a Christopher who wasn’t selfish or screwing up left and right? The door is slammed shut on a Lorelai and Christopher story, but a nod to him finally growing up would be some really nice closure.

15. Miss Patty and Babette Sharing the Screen

No story in Stars Hollow is complete without the two most notable townies, whether they are practicing for a karaoke cabaret show, spreading the latest gossip at Luke’s, or hollering at Lorelai for some oddball reason. The chemistry between Liz Torres and Sally Struthers was always a highlight of any Gilmore episode, so reunion scenes with these ladies is key to a successful revival.

16. Paris and Doyle Running the World

Paris and Doyle must still be together, right? Whatever they’re up to, these two are running the show, and taking names. Perhaps an allusion to Doyle building an “empire” and Paris “getting away with murder?” We really need a dose of Paris’ harsh reality, reminding us why we fell in love with her bluntness.

17. The Clown Pillow

It sat on Lorelai’s couch for the duration of the WB series. It went on to sit on Fanny’s couch on Sherman-Palladino’s Gilmore Girls followup, Bunheads. We think it’s time for the infamous Clown Pillow to make its way home, back under the Gilmore roof.

18. No April, Please

This revival is a happy place. Bringing in Luke’s daughter would only serve as a reminder of the breakup that occurred between he and Lorelai, and the subsequent mess that followed. We don’t need to pretend that she doesn’t exist, in fact, we wish her well. We’d just rather keep this reboot as our own little special place, one where there are no reminders of things that broke our hearts.

19. Those Last Four Words

Amy Sherman-Palladino has long teased Gilmore fans with those last four words to end the series, the words that she never got to write due to contract issues. She’s often joked that she’d never tell anyone what they were. News of the Netflix revival has filled the hearts of the masses who’ve been dreaming of the day that they’d finally hear those treasured (and highly guarded) words.

Gilmore Girls Quotes

Lorelai: Hi, Mom.
Emily: Lorelai, my goodness, this is a surprise. Is it Easter already?
Lorelai: (sounding uncomfortable) No, I just, uh, finished up my business class and I thought I would stop by.
Emily: To see me?
Lorelai: Yes.
Emily: Well, isn't that nice. Come in.
Lorelai: Thanks.
(They walk to the living room.)
Lorelai: The place looks great.
Emily: It hasn't changed.
Lorelai: Well, there you go. How are the girls at the bridge club?
Emily: Old.
Lorelai: Well... good.
(Lorelai and Emily sit, opposite to each other)
Emily: You said you were taking a business class?
Lorelai: Yeah, mmhmm, yeah. I'm taking a business class at the college twice a week. I'm sure I told you.
Emily: Well, if you're sure then you must have. (she pauses) Would you like some tea?
Lorelai: I would love some coffee.
Richard: (calling from another room) Emily? I'm home.
Emily: We're in here.
(Richard walks into the living room)
Lorelai: Hi, Dad.
Richard: What is it, Christmas already?

Lorelai: (speaking to Luke) Wow, you look nice. Really nice.
Luke: I had a meeting earlier at the bank. They like collars. You look nice, too.
Lorelai: I had a flagellation to go to.
Luke: So, what'll you have?
Lorelai: Coffee, in a vat.
Rory: I'll have coffee also. And chili fries.
Luke: That's quite a refined palate you got there.
(Luke walks to the counter)
Lorelai: (to Rory) Behold the healing powers of a bath.
