Flaurel is here to stay, people! At least we think they are.
Frank and Laurel have been ridiculously cute all season, but they took things to another level on How to Get Away with Murder Season 2 Episode 6, when Frank brought Laurel home for dinner. As sweet as the scene was, the skeptic in some of us couldn't help but wonder if there was more to this than meets the eye.
Elsewhere, we got some new disturbing intel on what happened at Trotter Lake and we got a powerful Wes and Annalise moment, which left us wondering if Wes was once again manipulated by his mentor.
It was another crazy week, in a very crazy season and TV Fanatic round table vets Rachel Miller, Amanda Steinmetz, Miranda Wicker and Whitney Evans stopped by to talk about it all!
What was your favorite quote or scene?
Rachel: The scene at the end where Frank was carrying a lifeless body. I totally assumed he was getting rid of Rebecca’s body. It was shocking to see it was actually Catherine’s and that she wasn’t really dead. I’m excited to see what the heck happened that led to Frank dumping her body.
Amanda: Yeah, the editing during those final moments was great. The switch from Rebecca's to Catherine's body was seamless, and her waking up was definitely a surprise.
Miranda: I'm super confused about the final scene. Did we time jump? What happened there? Consider me officially intrigued. As for my very favorite scene, I loved Frank taking Laurel home to meet his family. I'm pulling for those two as much as I'm pulling for Connor and Oliver.
Whitney: I loved the first scene with Frank at the hospital freaking out and then calmly walking to his car and looking at Catherine pass out in the back. Every week I feel like I'm screaming "WTF?!" at my television screen and I love it.
Are you liking the cases of the week this season? Or are you more interested in the Hapstall murder?
Rachel: I’m really interested in learning more about the Hapstall murder. I think it will be exciting to see what exactly Catherine and Caleb may or not be hiding from the Keating crew. I can’t wait to dig deeper into the lives of the Hapstall family now that we know there’s a mysterious cousin involved.
Amanda: None of the cases of the week have really captured my attention this season. I'd much rather spend time on the Hapstall murder.
Miranda: It's sort of six of one, half dozen of another for me. I like the idea that there's one major case they're working on and several smaller cases because that seems a little more real-world to me. But I really want to get to the meat of the Hapstall case to find out what's going on with the creepy cousin and how Caleb and Michaela get together.
Whitney: I'm with Miranda here. I like that some weeks there isn't a case and it's just them working the Hapstall murder. But I think it'd be hard for them to do that every week, so the cases of the week are definitely necessary and have been preety good this season. I loved the case this week and I wish we'd spent a little more time on it.
Frank brought Laurel home to meet the family! Thoughts?
Rachel: Frank may actually have real feelings for Laurel. When you bring someone to meet your family, things are definitely getting serious. Hopefully Frank truly likes Laurel. I like them together, we may need to conjure up a ship name for them.
Amanda: I thought the general consensus on the ship name was Flaurel. Am I wrong? Anyway, I don't think it's a question of whether or not Frank has real feelings for her because we've seen that he definitely does. Bonnie wouldn't give him a hard time otherwise. Still, I'm sure there's a part of him that wants to gain her trust so she stops questioning him.
Miranda: ADORABLE. I love those two. Of course, loving them together means one of them is always in danger of dying, just like Connor and Oliver, but still. I'm enjoying them together while it lasts.
Whitney: I think these two are so stinking cute, but then I got the thinking on this show that nothing is ever as it seems. A commenter pointed out that that might not even be Frank's real family! Ah! I'm hoping these guys are the real deal, but you just never know.
Did Wes believe Annalise when she lied yet again about not knowing what happened to Rebecca?
Rachel: Wes should be smart enough to not start trusting Annalise by now. She is known being a notorious liar. Wes knows what she is truly capable of doing. He will most likely continue his search for Rebecca’s whereabouts.
Amanda: I really hope not. Poor Wes keeps looking crazier and crazier to the others, but his intuition is spot on. Hopefully Wes will play Annalise and make her think he believes her.
Miranda: I'm inclined to believe he didn't, but there's been a weird vibe going on between them for a while now. I think he WANTS to trust her, but he's just prone to being distrustful of people in general and women specifically. It'll make him a great attorney.
Whitney: I really couldn't tell. Despite his better judgment, I do think a strong part of Wes cares for Annalise, so when she pulls out the emotions and really tugs at Wes's heartstrings, I think he begins to think she's telling the truth.
We learned a little more about Trotter Lake. React!
Rachel: The news about Trotter Lake was pretty disturbing. Hopefully we will be able to get the backstory on what really went down that night.
Amanda: I had a feeling rape was somehow going to be involved. There's been too many murders involving this one group of people for there to be another one. However, I was not expecting it to be a gang-rape. I hope Asher did not partake, but even if he didn't and was just a bystander, that's still horrible and reprehensible. Now knowing Bonnie's history of abuse, this should cause some serious tension between those two if she confronts him.
Miranda: I don't get the sense that Asher was at all involved directly in the gang-rape. His sense of right and wrong is far too important to him. I think it's possible he was a bystander and is worried about being caught/tried/convicted of being an assailant, so that's why he was looking for immunity. He pretty much has no reason to point fingers at anyone else, though.
Whitney: I need more information stat, because right now I'm disgusted with Asher. I had many theories about Trotter Lake, but gang-rape was not one of them.
