The Good Wife Season 7 Episode 6 Review: Lies

All of the lies were circling the air in The Good Wife Season 7 Episode 6, and it’s only a matter of time before they finally land.
The biggest revelation was Peter’s involvement in Alicia’s election scandal, although I can’t say it came as a shock. I had always wondered if Peter was a part of the election machines being hacked; This was simply confirmation of his guilt.
What’s worse than Peter lying, cheating, and manipulating (because let’s face it, he’s adept at all three) was that he wouldn’t let Alicia run on her own merit. He feared that she’d lose the election and, undoubtedly, how that would affect him, so he had the game rigged.
All of these years, Alicia stood by Peter, maybe not their marriage, but she stood by the man. The mere fact that she didn’t divorce him and shared the public spotlight as his wife allowed him to rise back to power. Then when his scheme blew up, he stood back and watched Alicia take the fall.
It will be intriguing to see what Eli chooses to do next. He seemed to weighing the possibilities, and I think what Alicia wants will be a part of that. Does she want to help Peter become President? Does she want to be First Lady? Or does she want to see him implode?
I can’t even explain how much I hope Eli shares that information with Alicia and then the two of them conspire to take Peter down. The man deserves to lose everything.
As for the case of the week, I can’t say I really enjoyed it other than seeing Anna Wood as Kristen Balko. The actress has been a favorite of mine since I saw her on CBS’ now defunct Reckless.
I also can't say I'm thrilled to see the NSA brought back into the mix. I found that storyline to be a bit tedious in The Good Wife Season 6.
However, the interactions from the case did bring up a few questions concerning Alicia, such as would she really add the malpractice insurance on to her home owner’s policy? That sounds incredibly risky. Also, why hadn’t she checked out Jason the moment she found he had a criminal history? And why wait until they were in court to ask him for details about it? The look on Lucca’s face when she did that mimicked my reaction perfectly.
So is Jason Crouse a sociopath or a decent guy, perhaps with a temper, who looks out for the little guy? Unfortunately we didn’t get that answer this week, but hopefully it will come soon.
Then there was the debacle that is Lockhart, Agos, and Lee. The firm is sexist, racist, and probably any other -ist you’d like to throw in. Monica’s interviews were horrifying. They made it sound as though all of the black people in the entire state of Maryland must live in the bad section of Baltimore.
It was nauseating to watch, but now the question becomes, what will Monica do with that video?
