Hawaii Five-0 Season 6 Episode 12 Review: Ua Ola Loko I Ke Aloha (Love Gives Life Within)

On Hawaii Five-0 Season 6 Episode 12, some World War II bombs go missing from a bunker on an uninhabited island. Aunt Deb comes for one last visit.

First off Danny was MIA this week. Still, it was a great episode, even without him. I do like the whole team together best. I was expecting this to be a downer with both Aunt Deb and Leonard's passing. But it was light-hearted and fun. Well except for the joyride and the boy getting shot.

It was obvious at least one of the boys was going to get himself into some trouble. I just wasn't expecting a gunshot to the chest. Glad he was going to be OK.

It was nice change that the reason for the theft of the bombs, wasn't to cause mass destruction and casualties. Kyle just wanted to clear his beloved grandfather's name. Too bad he shot a young boy in the process.

Russo: Hey, check this out.
Steve: What was inside?
Russo: Cyanide
Steve: Cyanide?
Russo: I know, crazy right? The secret bunker, the World War II pistol, the kill pill, and the ring with the in compartment, this is some real secret agent stuff.

The grandfather having a change of heart about setting the bombs off because of his love for a local woman was kind of sweet, considering. I wonder if Steve was thinking about Catherine or if it was just my imagination and he has moved on.

Jerry: The concept was genius, but the operation was an epic fail.
Chin: Only because it sounds like a plan concocted by Wylie Coyote.

It is was great to see Carol Burnett as Aunt Deb again. Sadly, it was the last we get see of her. The one thing I had a problem with though, was taking the little girl on the joyride with them. She was driving reckless and anything could have happened.

Talk about child endangerment. I cringed, and was shaking my finger at them. I did check to make sure they at least had her in a car seat. They did...I think.

Steve: Well, the morning's yours Aunt Deb, what do you want to do?
Aunt Deb: What do I want to do? I want to drive your truck.
Steve: What?
Aunt Deb: Your pickup truck, I want to take that bad boy for a spin.

Other than the joyride, which I guess was really on her late husband Leonard's bucket list, not hers, the list was great. The fashion show was fun to watch and the little girl is adorable. She has sure grown. I remember her as a baby. I may have to add go on an epic shopping spree to mine.

Aunt Deb got experience all but one item on her list. Thanks to Steve, Mary and Joanie she got to fulfill the last one climb a really tall mountain, albeit post mortem. Glad she didn't die alone and that Steve got to be there with her.

Good Bye Aunt Deb, I will miss you.

Abby was back, and boy was she back. It must have been some night. The bra hanging off of the wine bottle was a lovely touch. Whose story about how it started do you believe?

Kono: Do you think they're...um
Grover: Knockin' em? Oh yeah

Some final thoughts:

  • No mention of where Danny was supposed to be.
  • No follow-up to the conversation between Adam and Gabriel in Hawaii Five-0 Season 6 Episode 11.
  • It was funny to see Steve about lose his breakfast with Aunt Deb's driving.
  • All the fried food was a bit disgusting. My arteries were clogging at the mere sight.
  • The Jerry Alert was hilarious.
  • Speaking of Jerry, I loved the "view" from his office.

How did you like tonights episode? Do you have a bucket list? Were you happy to see Chin and Abby take their relationship to the next level? How did you feel about the joyride? Tell us in the comments below.
