The Vampire Diaries Round Table: Welcome To The Future!

Welcome to the future, The Vampire Diaries fanatics!

On The Vampire Diaries Season 7 Episode 15 we finally caught up to the three years later narrative and our panelists couldn't be more excited.

Below, TV Fanatics Miranda Wicker, Amanda Steinmetz, Carissa Pavlica and Paul Dailly chat about Bonnie's big speech, the new timeline and Damon's decision.

React to Bonnie's big speech to Damon.

Miranda: She's absolutely correct in that he was taking the coward's way out by not saying goodbye in person and deciding to write a note. He knows he's screwing up by being selfish (even if his motives are somewhat pure...people DO tend to get hurt when he doesn't have Elena). Should she stay mad at him forever? Eh, maybe not. But her hurt was totally valid.

Amanda: I loved it! It's amazing how far these two have come since season 1. Their friendship has been one of the best parts of show. Bonnie's reaction was totally valid, but I also understand why Damon wouldn't want to say goodbye in person.

Carissa: All I can remember of it is "I hurt," and how I was thinking that was some of the best acting Kat Graham had done in a long time. She was making me hurt.

Paul: I loved that scene. It was one of the best scenes of the entire series. Kat Graham really upped her game and it showed.

How do you think the action is going to play out now that we've caught up to the flash forwards?

Miranda: Oh man, I'm so excited for this. So, so excited. We're finally going to get some answers, namely how Bonnie and Enzo end up a thing.

Amanda: I'm so happy we're caught up. I'm curious what we will see during the three years in between, if anything.

Carissa: I do not know, but I hope the rest of the story is as interesting as the flashforwards have been, as they've been keeping the show on a high this season.

Paul: I have no idea, but if it's anything like the past few episodes, then I'm all for it. The show has returned to appointment TV for me over the past half season.

Was Damon right to sequester himself?

Miranda: It's debatable. He's not wrong. People get hurt when he's not thinking clearly, and no one really deserves to pay for his sins except himself. But dude. Bad form. Leaving everyone who has ever sacrificed for you just because you don't want to deal? Not cool.

Amanda: Yes and no. Damon's point of view is understandable. He's miserable with Elena and tends to make bad decisions in her absence. However, he owes more to the people who care about him and constantly help him.

Carissa: Well, it's kind of a nice time out. And if anybody probably needs one now and again, it's Damon. He tends to make bad situations worse, so while you'd want to be mad at him, you'd also have to begrudgingly realize he just made your life a little easier.

Paul: It's kind of the cowards way out. He waited over one hundred years for Katherine, so what's sixty if he knows Elena will be waiting for him.

How did you feel about Matt telling Stefan (and every other vampire) to get out of Mystic Falls?

Miranda: I'm Team Matt on this one, at least for now. All vampires have ever done, even those who've become his friends, is cost him everything. He's literally the last human standing, so while the vampires could all easily overpower him, I have to commend him for taking a stand.

Amanda: It's about time! Matt should have stood up for himself and the town a long time ago.

Carissa: Well, they've already done the "Mystic Falls is not your home" storyline, so maybe they're just ready to knock down those sets and move the hell on. Out with the dark and dreary, in with the light and fresh. Or something.

Paul: I don't know what to think of it, but I'm so sick of Matt and his rebellious ways. He's going the way of Enzo and fading into oblivion.

Is there any hope for Steroline?

Miranda: Hope? Nope. I'm just not feeling it.

Amanda: I honestly don't know at this point. It feels like we barely got to see them as a functioning couple before Valerie showed up. Stefan's decision to leave without saying goodbye, or breaking up with her, makes Caroline's anger at him in the flash forwards make much more sense.

Carissa: No. They tried, they failed. Nothing puts a wet blanket on budding passion like an actual wet blanket. It's time to move on.

Paul: I'd like to think there was, but I don't Calaric splitting up soon, so no.
