Days of Our Lives Round Table: Does Aiden Deserve a Second Chance?

at .

Aiden had a whopper of a tale for Hope about his time away, Chad confronted Jennifer about her addiction and the virus outbreak grew more and more…boring?

Our TV Fanatics Jack Ori and Christine Orlando are joined by Tapdancer from MyHourglass a Days of Our Live fan forum to debate if Aiden deserves a second chance, who should visit Abby, and how they rate Salem’s virus outbreak on Days of Our Lives.

Does Aiden deserve a second chance with Hope?

Jack: Absolutely. All of their trouble was due to Andre's interference, and ultimately Aiden did fall for Hope and did refuse to kill her. It's not like Hope's past, especially her recent past, is so squeaky clean, and her fantasy that Aiden was just pure evil is crumbling before her eyes now.

Tapdancer: No. I don't think Aiden really loves Hope. He lied about when he was kidnapped, making Hope think she married the imposter. And even though he decided not to kill Hope at the last minute, I think he would have changed his mind when he realized that Andre would hurt Chase.

Christine: Absolutely NOT! He was hired by the Dimeras to seduce her and make her forget about Bo. Their relationship was a lie from the very first moment. I don’t see how anyone could ever forget that. If Aiden wants a future in Salem and he need to move on and find it with someone else because this romance needs to be over.

Hope Calls 911 on Aiden - Days of Our Lives

Should Chad have confronted Jennifer about her addiction?

Jack: Yes, yes, 1000 times yes. Jennifer will not get better unless she experiences severe enough consequences for her addictive behavior that she decides to stop.

Tapdancer: Definitely! Jennifer needs to hear these things because she's in denial.

Christine: We all agree. I respected Chad a lot for being so honest with her. There’s no way he would leave his son with an addict and right now, that’s what Jennifer is.

Was Abigail right to ask Chad and her family to stay away?

Jack: No. First of all, I'm 99% convinced that this is an idea implanted by her incompetent and possibly evil therapist. Secondly, being entirely isolated will just make things worse. She should be dealing in therapy with how seeing her family is affecting her, not isolating herself.

Tapdancer: I think Abby needs to be in therapy for a few months before she has visitors. Right now, she's upset and ashamed. Chad should have left Thomas at home and he had no right inviting Jennifer or anyone else to see Abby without her consent.

Christine: I think if she and her therapist think that some down time is a good idea, then her family should comply. Sometimes, family can be more of a stressor than a help, even when they don’t mean to be. I don’t think Abby should cut them out forever, but a few weeks apart may be a good idea.

From a 0 (deadly boring) to a 10 (absolutely fantastic), rate the deadly virus story?

Jack: About a 3. This could have been a great story but there's minimal impact of this virus, one of the major characters who is supposedly ill is not even on-screen for his own story, and nobody really seems to be in serious danger of anything.

Tapdancer: 0 - zero.

Christine: 2. Aren’t these type of stories supposed to ramp up the drama? This one is nothing but boring and as Jack pointed out, Paul is at the center of it and yet he’s not even on screen. What’s up with that?

Gabi and JJ Are Ill - Days of Our Lives

What, if anything, disappointed you this week in Salem?

Jack: JJ disappearing into the Bermuda Triangle again. After Gabi said he felt warm to her, all he got was one casual off-screen "oh by the way JJ is deathly ill too" mention and Gabi didn't even ask her mother how he was doing, nor did Caroline bother to tell Hope that her cousin (you know, the one who just defended her to Mami Hernandez right before the epidemic started) is also seriously ill! I was especially disappointed that we didn't get an actual scene of Jennifer going to the hospital to try to see JJ. That would have been some fantastic drama. Maybe if we had a little less of Summer and of Deimos' piano playing we would have had room for it.

Tapdancer: I absolutely hated Monday's episode, which was all about Aiden's six month ordeal. Why isn't anyone in the hospital wearing their masks?! I don't want to watch Joey and Jade living with a cult.

Christine: All of the above! That Jennifer hasn’t even gone to the hospital is ridiculous. People in quarantine areas take their masks off so often that I don’t know why they even bother with them. And it took every ounce of willpower not to fast forward through Monday’s Aiden filled episode. We just watched Bo be tortured and imprisoned. I really didn’t need to sit through the same nonsense with Aiden.

What was your favorite quote, scene or storyline from the week?

Jack: JJ telling Gabi he didn't care if he got sick too because he wanted to be with her. Also, Chad confronting Jennifer about her addiction.

Tapdancer: Chad to Jennifer: "I'll be damned if I'm going to let my son go home with someone in your situation!" Right on, Chad!

Christine: Yes, Chad definitely had the brain in Salem this week. But my favorite line was Fynn telling Kayla,  “Well, if you’re son’s half as smart as you are, I’m sure he’s being safe.” That literally made me laugh out loud because it showed how little Fynn knows of Joey. The kids and idiot and the last thing he cares about is being safe.
