Nashville Season 5: Nearing Renewal at CMT!

at .  Updated at .

When Nashville Season 4 ended, Lionsgate TV took a huge leap of faith.

They insisted that the series go out with a serious cliffhanger. THAT's how sure they were they'd be able to find another home for the country music series if ABC decided to let it go.

Well, that confidence seems to be paying off.

Tricky Business - Nashville

The producers of the series wasted no time once the decision was made by ABC to cancel Nashville.

Despite the cancelation, at no time did the producers give up hope, shopping Nashville to both traditional and non-traditional networks.

You better believe the fans were thankful for that.

Not only was their favorite show canceled, but the fate of one of the series best characters, Juliette (Hayden Panettiere), was left up in the air after a plane crash.

As if that wasn't bad enough, the plane crashed as she was on her way to make up with Avery, with whom she shared a daughter.

And the worst part?

Fans were told there was an alternate ending filmed in the event of cancelation, a cancelation that occurred before the finale aired on ABC.

That finale would have had Juliette landing safely, reuniting with Avery for a happily ever after moment.

But now we know there's something to be said about faith and perseverance. Interestingly enough, that's a common theme within country music.

It's coming down to the wire, but a deal is close for the series to run on CMT, possibly in conjunction with a streaming network.

Will fans be so lucky as to have not one, but two choices of where to watch their favorite show once it's renewed?

You may very well find out tomorrow night, when the CMT Awards air on the network.

It's the perfect time to announce a very big achievement for both the network and the show, which will have survived due to the love of the fans and the faith of the producers.

If Season 5 is a go, the producers hired on previously, Marshall Herskovitz and Ed Zwick are still set to take control of the series.

What's not such a simple answer at this time is whether the entire cast will make the switch to CMT with the series if a renewal is made.

What are your thoughts on this news? Will you follow Nashville to CMT? Will you still watch if some of the cast doesn't make the voyage to the new network?

Why can't they just give out the damn award already? Why do they have to throw so many parties?

Juliette

What you're bailing on the party? Great that's one less person's feelings I have to tiptoe around all night.
