Devious Maids Season 4 Episode 8 Review: I Saw The Shine

at .  Updated at .

Things just got messier.

Devious Maids Season 4 Episode 8 had Rosie struggling to tell Spence the truth, Marisol trying to forget her past indiscretion, and Zoila just focused on getting Kyle out of the house.

I wouldn't want to be in your shoes. Or Marisol's, those are just ugly.

Carmen

Marisol choosing Peter makes no sense to me at all.

When you have someone like Jesse vying for your attention, you choose him in a second!

The cheating route is overused and boring at this point, but if you are going to use it, use it right. Marisol choosing Jesse would have been more believable since we know those two together more than we know Peter and Marisol.

And watching Peter trying to win Marisol back this time around was like watching paint dry. He didn't really sell himself enough, and he's lucky Genevieve visited him when she did.

If anyone is worth rooting for in this situation, it has to be Genevieve. Not only did she hit on Jesse when she got the chance, she planned it perfectly so that Peter found out the truth without realizing how well he was played.

Now, with Dani not caring much for Jesse, and Peter thinking that Marisol is still cheating on him, we might still have a chance to see those two getting back together.

It wouldn't be ideal but it would add up more than anything else they've tried with those two. Jesse with Dani was forced to look like more than it really was, and Peter never put Marisol first. From day one we saw him putting his career first while she focused on her book and on her breakup with Jessie.

Well we didn't have a choice when I broke up with my mother.

Kyle

Zoila made the right choice dumping Kyle, but I will still miss seeing him as much as we did when they were together.

They aren't exactly over, but between him moving back in with his mother and Zoila's boss coming back to her house, that relationship is a crash and burn waiting to happen.

Zoila created this mess herself, but it's still hard to watch Fiona come back to ruin this perfect illusion that was created.

Zoila was finally getting some sort of happiness out of her life, even if it was from a drawn out lie. Now she is backed into a corner where she is dating her neighbor and risking the truth blowing up in her face.

This clearly won't end well, but that doesn't mean watching that will be any easier. Maybe her brand new best friend and guest in her daydreams could help her out.

I'm not sure exactly how Adrian could turn this into something better than it is, but money helps everything. Plus, Adrian is one for schemes, and he could probably plot something to keep this whole thing a secret from Kyle and his vengeful mother.

Instead she comes back triumphant, with a black man between her legs.

Adrian

Rosie and Spence got old a while ago, but this was a new level of too much.

Rosie didn't tell Spence about Tucker, and the longer she waits the worst this will get. Spence deserves to know what she found out before someone else tells him.

But the wedding and the conjugal visit were a waste of time that could have been used to find out more about Peri.

Peter is clearly the guy who raped her, right?

That camera work was done that way for a reason, so if Peter really is that guy, his plot just got much more interesting.

Peri's back story wasn't what I expected, but it makes sense why she didn't tell Spence. She isn't exactly missed, but this definitely had me me feeling bad for her in this situation.

Hopefully this pushes Rosie to confess to Spencer because he might help her. This whole plan of hers is meant to get him out, yet he is never included in any of this. Maybe if she told him more about what she was doing, she would get to the finish line faster.

Spence Westmore, will you marry me again?

Rosie

Carmen, once again, has fallen into that dreaded hole that she has to crawl out of when Dani appears in her life.

I was never a fan of Dani, but lying to Carmen about her father dying was a new low for her.

It doesn't register for me why she did that, only to then call him and tell him not to show up because Carmen doesn't want to see him. What exactly does Dani get from this whole manipulation tactic she has going on?

And how long will Dani last this time around?

Her presence doesn't last for long, but the impact she has carries over once she is gone. Carmen, at this point in her life, is better off without Dani, yet she somehow always gets sucked back into that drama.

Do you think Dani is a good presence for Carmen to have around? What do you think about Peter now that he is trying to change only to see his girlfriend with someone else? Is there anything for Adrian to find out about James and his past? Tell us what you think below.
