Fargo Season 3 Lands Carrie Coon as Female Lead

at .

As if we didn't already know Fargo Season 3 was going to be fantastic, the casting choices keep making it seem even better.

Carrie Coon, who is currently in Australia finishing up The Leftovers final season, has been cast opposite previously named male lead Ewan McGregor.

Coon will play the series regular role of Gloria Burgle, a practical woman who grabs the fire extinguisher when the bacon catches fire and everyone else panics.

The chief of police in Edna Valley and a newly divorced mother, she struggles to understand this new world around her where people connect more intimately with their phones than the people directly in front of them.

Season 3 of Fargo will be set nearer to the future than the previous two installments.

The drama will settle around a pair of pair of brothers, both played by McGregor, Emmit and Ray Stussy.

Emmit is the Parking Lot King of Minnesota, a good looking, self assured, real estate magnate.

His brother, Ray, is his opposite. He's unfit, works as a parole officer and blames his brother for his lot in life.

Hey! At least he has a job! It will be McGregor's first series regular role on television.

Now that we have two roles fleshed out, it would seem natural for Coon's chief of police to be working with McGregor's Ray in his efforts as a parole officer.

At least until a crime is committed (or something...who knows?!) at one of Emmit's parking establishments.

Who isn't rubbing their hands together in anticipation at the thought of what's coming?

Earlier this year, Coon won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Actress in a Drama Series for her amazing work in The Leftovers.

She had also been nominated for several awards for her breakthrough performances in 2015 for the first season of The Leftovers, as well as her work in the feature film, Gone Girl.

Coon hasn't been at this for very long, and her first credited role was in the short-lived NBC series The Playboy Club in 2011.

Essentially, Coon takes every role she's given and absolutely shines.

We have no doubt she's going to do the same with Gloria Burgle.
