All right, who called for a horror movie?

On From Dusk Till Dawn Season 3 Episode 6, Amaru locked up Richie in an abandoned asylum. The setting alone should have given everyone a clue about what kind of hour this was going to be. We went full on horror/slasher movie, and it was amazing.

This was such a creepy hour of TV, and the departure from the normal tone of a Dusk episode takes was a lot of fun. It worked really well. There was only one thing that I really hated, but I'll get into that later.

First, let's talk about what was enjoyable.

Richie and Amaru were definitely entertaining to watch. We haven't really seen Amaru work her mind control magic before, and even though we didn't see how exactly she turned him (maybe it was the hand to tree/wall thing), it was awesme that we got to see what else Amaru is capable of.

One of my favorite moments was Amaru and Richie fighting over Richie changing the plan. Amaru, did you not pick up from Kate's memories that Richie does what he wants?

The core of the show is the Gecko brothers. It always has been about them and their relationship.

DJ Cotrona stole the show for me. Yes, Zane Holtz did an amazing job as a slightly unhinged version of Richie, but DJ Cotrona broke my heart time and time again.

Seth: Buddy, we've been done this road before, yeah? Come on, buddy. You can come back from this. This isn't you. This is not you. We have each other's back. That's what we do. I look out for you. You look out for me. This is not you.
Richie: It's not me. It's us.

After everything the brothers went through last season, they have found their way back to one another. This was a great reminder of who the brothers are at their core, and how, no matter what, they will always look out for the other one.

I mean Richie's shadow self still wouldn't leave without Seth. The Geckos are a packaged deal.

What did Ximena ever do to deserve this crap?

She's a badass warrior who has brought sass into our lives. She forced Seth to become a team mom/leader, which has been the gift that just keeps on giving. Still, for some reason, Ximena was killed off because Freddie apparently needs to be even more sad and upset that he already was.

Freddie and Ximena have great chemistry, and it was fun to see Freddie be partnered with her. He was reluctant, since she is a culebra, but he was warning up to her.

Then on From Dusk Till Dawn Season 3 Episode 5, there was a kiss that came out of nowhere, but hey, we shrugged it off and kept moving. Freddie said he was being impulsive, and so while it felt a bit rushed, it wasn't the worst thing in the world.

Freddie and Ximena having sex was shocking. I'm not sure at what point we went from a spur of the moment kiss to sex, but it happened, and thankfully Ximena brought up Freddie's wife and daughter. Someone had to.

Now that Ximena's dead, it all makes sense (unfortunately).

Freddie's relationship with Ximena was rushed because Freddie needed the guilt of killing someone he cared for. Yes, Dusk, let's reduce this amazing woman to a device that can be used to cause Freddie pain. Excellent job.

You know, if the plan was for Ximena to die this season, that's okay. Give her a death worthy of the amazing woman she is. Have Amaru or Brasa kill her in battle.

I'd even be okay with the Freddie and Ximena romance if it was developed a little bit more, and if Freddie wasn't the one to kill her. Ximena's death would have been a huge blow to Freddie even without the guilt.

This was such an amazing hour up until Ximena's death. What will you miss most about her? Let's fill the comments with Ximena love and appreciation.
