Supergirl Season 2 Episode 2 Review: The Last Children of Krypton

One of the best things about Supergirl is its emphasis on family and team work.

Supergirl Season 2 Episode 2 reminded us of that value and certainly did not disappoint!

We started off watching Team Krypton #TooMuchFun, but it couldn't just be all about Supergirl and Superman.

Sister Support - Supergirl Season 2 Episode 2

They really are a lot of fun to watch, but not at the expense of a jealous Alex.

That's something we're not really used to seeing. Alex has mentioned time and time again how much she's given up and put aside to protect Kara, but this time she was hiding behind that. The idea of Kara moving to Metropolis to be with Clark was downright painful, but she couldn't just come out and admit that for some reason.

Honestly the whole scene was weird. Yes, Alex protects Kara, and maybe there was always a feeling of obligation behind it, but they are sisters, and they love each other. It's not really about obligation, and they both know that.

Kara thinking she'd be lifting a burden off of Alex by moving was honestly a little insensitive. She knows how she feels about her and that kind of news would be a huge blow. At the same time, Alex should have just come right out and told her that she was hurt, instead of playing the obligation card.

But, that all needed to happen to give us the super sweet moment between the sisters later, starting with Kara...I don't want to say "rescuing" because Alex had a pretty good handle on the situation but assisting her with the crazy Cadmus people.

Have they actually said what that lady's name is yet? If so, I missed it and am fine deeming her Dr. Crazy Cadmus lady for the time being.

The dual fight scenes with the two Metallos were awesome. They were very well done, and I'm officially putting aside any doubts I had about The CW move. It still feels like the same show with the same effects and the same well choreographed fight scenes.

And again I loved J'onn and Alex arriving to help, proving once again the teamwork aspect of what makes Supergirl so strong.

Cat: Have I ever told you my name is Catherine?
Supergirl: I'm not telling you my real name.
Cat: I had to try.

We knew it was coming, but it didn't make it any easier. Cat's taking a leave of absence. She's going to dive in and explore new waters and whatever the rest of that metaphor was. I'm glad we got a scene not just with Kara and Cat, but with Supergirl and Cat as well.

I'm also glad Supergirl made her promise to come back. I know we're all holding her to that one.

James taking over Cat's job doesn't make a whole lot of sense. He's a photographer, and has pretty much explicitly said he likes being on the streets, in the action, and not stuck behind a desk. I'm not really sure how this is going to work for him.

I love Ian Gomez and especially loved Cougar Town, so I have high hopes for Snapper Carr. His introduction was so-so, but there's a lot of potential for humor there. Kara's not going to have Winn to cover for her when she has to go off and be Supergirl, so it'll be interesting to see how she handles that.

Superman and Martian Manhunter are gonna fight. This is terrible. This is awesome!

Winn

J'onn and Superman butting heads was pretty entertaining. As much fun as it would have been to see them fight, it was way more satisfying seeing them fight together. J'onn relenting and giving up the Kryptonite was a big step for him. He doesn't give in easily.

It makes sense having Winn working at the DEO full time now. He didn't really do much at CatCo as it was, and with Kara and James moving on to new jobs, it's nice that he is moving on to bigger and better things too.

Let's just take a quick moment of silence for the Team Supergirl secret office that will probably never be used again.

Mon-El is finally awake! We still know next to nothing about him, but I'm taking his waking up as progress. Is he going to be a good guy or a bad guy, or somewhere in between? Starting off by strangling Kara is not a good sign, but maybe that's just a reflex after waking up after however long in a strange place.

Will you guys miss Team Krypton now that Superman has gone back home? It's hard not to appreciate the nerd duo using their science skills to basically turn a cloud into a fire extinguisher.

Are you ready for your first episode without Cat Grant? At least Supergirl Season 2 Episode 3 will have Wonder Woman Lynda Carter to help soften the blow!
