Chicago PD Season 5: Jon Seda Returns!

at .

Jon Seda was a fan-favorite character on Chicago PD, and fans were not entirely impressed by the decision to have the actor move over to Chicago Justice.

From a business standpoint, it made sense. Moving a much-loved character over meant his fans would likely move with him to watch the fourth entry to the Chicago franchise.

Jon Seda as Antonio Dawson - Chicago Justice

Unfortunately, it did not pan out the way the network planned, and Chicago Justice was canceled after just one season.

Since then, fans have questioned what that meant for Seda's character, Antonio Dawson.

Could he just move back to the show that fans initially watched him on? We now have confirmation that the character will be back.

“It’s a pleasure to have Jon back on Chicago P.D.,” executive producer Dick Wolf said in a statement.

“We have been working together for more than 20 years, and I hope there are many more to come.”

So, that solves it, Chicago PD fanatics. Jon will make his way back to Chicago PD as a full-fledged series regular.

It should be interesting to see how he is brought back into the show, but it should also serve as a good way to close off some of the lingering plot threads from the premature cancelation of Chicago Justice.

Night Raid - Chicago PD Season 3 Episode 14

Season 1 averaged 6.1 million viewers and a 1.1 rating among adults 18-49. It ranked as the eighth highest rated scripted series on NBC.

There were reports earlier this year that NBC was struggling to syndicate the franchise, meaning the network did not stand to make much money off of the shows as they age.

This could explain why Chicago Justice was given the chop while multiple lower rated series on the network clinched renewals.

It's unclear whether any of the other Justice characters will make their way to other shows in the franchise, but time will tell.
