Orlanda Bloom to Star in Amazon Drama Series

Orlando Bloom is taking a break from movies and will make the jump to TV for Carnival Row.

The actor is attached to star and executive-produce the fantasy drama which received a straight-to-series order from Amazon.

Orlando Bloom

The series is described as "fantasy-noir set in a neo-Victorian city. Mythical creatures fleeing their war-torn homeland have gathered in the city, and tensions are simmering between citizens and the growing immigrant population.”

Bloom is signed on to play a police inspector named Rycroft Philostrate who is pushed to the limit as he tries to solve the murder of a faerie showgirl on Carnival Row.

Philostrate is not supposed to have any emotion with regards to the death of another faerish refugee, but he will quickly realize that the truth will come at a significant cost.

Orlando Bloom Attends Premiere

Bloom's previous TV credits have all been guest starring roles, so Carnival Row marks his first series regular role on TV, and we're very excited about it.

It does sound like a fresh and exciting drama that will keep viewers enthralled throughout the full eight-episode run.

There is no confirmation as of yet whether it is being billed as a miniseries or an ongoing one.

Bloom, Orlando

Bloom is probably best known for his roles in The Lord of the Rings franchise, in which he portrayed the character of Legolas.

That was his breakthrough role and paved the way for him to appear in another hit movie franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean.

He appeared earlier this year in the most recent installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

The series is expected to debut on the streaming service at some point in 2018.
